Big Joke's right hand woman is the cutest captain on the force

Thai Rath featured an interview with a female police captain who has often been at the side of crime buster Surachet Hakpal.

Pol Capt Saranya Wiraya or "Captain BB" was hired for her all round abilities and English language skills though the Thai media called her the cutest officer on the force in their headline.

BB has been acting as a translator for Pol Maj Gen Surachet who has been all over the news in recent months busting call center gangs, illegal guides and illegal foreigners on overstay or who are committing crimes in Thailand.

Surachet is the deputy commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau - while delivering a speech in Dubai the other week it was clear that the Major General may struggle with English himself.

BB finished high school at Rachinee School in Bangkok then went to do a bachelor's degree in Creative Advertising and a masters in Management and Marketing at the Birmingham City University in England.

She told Thai Rath that as a girl she dreamed like many others of being an air hostess, dressing up nicely and travelling. She never thought she would be a cop.

But when she returned to Thailand she applied and got into the force.

Now she has been named as one of six "Brand Ambassadors" to improve the image of the force.

It was natural that she would get a position in the tourist police, she said, as English language skills are important in dealing with tourists.

She called her life in the force her new dream job.

She helps to promote the tourist police and their 1155 helpline number where six languages are spoken.

The story was featured online in "Police Community".

"..right hand job..."

How did these words get into a discussion about a young police captain and her  Hakpal Surachet?

A police 'Captain' who I will wager has never once banged her fist on the table and yelled 'Shut it you slaag'. Just pure PR, not a real cop at all...

just a girl who's family are most likely fairly well off to send her to the uk for 3 years to study and ranks as we know are paid for here.

So she'll drive an SUV when everyone knows real police drive a Capri and knock boxes out of the way. I rest my case.

I wonder why she does not have the 'parachuting insignia' on her uniform like all the other high ranks? Does she need to have a 'jump' first (or her first 'jump')? :whistling:

Can't wait to see 'Big Joke' (he is one indeed) sell the rights to make a next insipid lakorn out of this! Just wonder whether he's going to share the rights with missy captain...? Anyway, when not waiting too long, she could even play herself in it.

Oh, Thailand, when it's not a comedy, it is (as mostly, alas) a tragedy, but always in a 'played' (enscened?) way, ...as actors in front of the (always present) camera.

Ah, but, wait, that is it: all of Thailand is like a bad soap opera (for the poor commoners, it's more like figuring in an early Chaplin still movie, but who cares about them...)!

is there such a thing as a humble ,reserved,''shy thai'',or are they all grandstanders, waiting for a crowd and a camera..

Nurses who are pregnant who breath life into what would be a corpse comes to mind.

Nobody in the BiB is like that accept for one plain clothes cop who use to say "be very careful in Thailand".  Given he was in his sixties, would stand on a busy street corner and he was educated made me think he was being punished.   Regret not getting to know him better, but prevailing wisdom is to avoid them.

Only been hassled once by for police in Bangkok for walking too fast and too far in the early evening.  Other than that, the vast majority of my interactions were quite friendly and before 2014.

Yawn, another most beautiful woman in Thailand story.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I always thought "cute" was meant to mean ugly but interesting..but that probably isn't accurate cos I can't see her being all that interesting either lol.
