The OP is based on a spike in murders in the last few months, very likely on a statistical basis to go back to 'normal'.

This article refers to murders only . It would not surprise me to see London at the top of the league for other crimes such as rape , muggings , theft , drug dealing and gang warfare most of which are committed by ethnic communities .

 How did the UK get into such a mess ?

Or the rate of change in street crime against the reduction in the number of police officers?

I wouldn’t put the problem in this provocative way.Neverthless it’s unfortunately the case that many migrants and non assimilated descendants of migrants in some Northern cities come from mostly superstitious,uneducated, and backward parts of Pakistan.We didn’t really get the sophisticated and open minded types (of which there are plenty) on the whole.The enforced flight of Asians from East Africa provided the UK with wonderful citizens who have assimilated well.
