A 45-year-old Laotian man has been arrested for allegedly transporting 6,060 yaba pills in Bung Kan’s Muang district, said district chief Jamras Kangnoi on Sunday morning.

Ken Heungwilai from the Laotian province of Bolikhamxai was apprehended, and drugs confiscated from his bag, at 4am after a stake-out by Thai authorities, who were tipped off to a drug delivery on Bung Kan-Bang Phaeng road in Ban Tha Pho of Tambon Bung Kan.

Ken reportedly confessed to the arresting team led by Bung Kan Mekong Patrol head Commander Chamnan Buajum. He allegedly told officers that he was hired by a compatriot drug dealer to leave the drugs in a roadside area to be picked up by another person. He said he was paid Bt5,000, which he aimed to spend to celebrate Songkran.

The Laotian man was charged with possessing narcotics with intent to sell, and for illegal entry to the Kingdom.
