People using "Ha Ha" as hate-likes -- scandalous or ridiculous?

I've noticed that some people are using "Ha Ha" to express dislike. It's obvious in context. If a post is funny, a "Ha Ha" shows appreciation. If a post is more sincere and serious, a "Ha Ha" shows derision. As there is no explicit Dislike option available, people are using it in the same way. 

 

One "funny" thing about this is that a "Ha Ha" just shows as a generic Like on the android app. So the intended message (derision) is reversed. Ha ha indeed!

 

So, as per the headline, 

 

SCANDALOUS or RIDICULOUS?

Don't see it as either, I use it as my reaction to the post as my reply the same as the 'sad' or others however that reaction is taken is not my concern.

I'm glad you brought up sad.

I used to use sad before to express empathy with the content of the post if the post was expressing something dark and unfortunate, etc.

But then realized it could also easily be taken as a hate-like, depending. 

So I've stopped using it.

I see not using them as a bit over sensitive but everyone their own.

I have a person sorta trolling me....he mostly gives me a "confused"  icon. I sometimes feel like asking him if it is wise to be broadcasting all over the Internet how slow he is on the uptake....but I never do for fear of hurting his feelings?

Some guy sent a pm telling me not to message him when his pm was the initial one.

 

I think some have some issues determining reality from internet banter between strangers.

It is often used to prevent misunderstanding, I think, because written communication --such as here-- does not allow for people to check for understanding of read into other cues (intonation, facial,...).

Yes, I had similar and the poster I saddened went to my last few posts over the previous 3 weeks and added a saddy to each of them   :-(

If you mean the emoji things beneath each post, then I generally use it derisively in response

to a generic "everything is awful in Thailand" type post.

 

Sometimes I find a post genuinely funny then I will use the haha button.

 

The sad emoji I reserve for the retards (can I say that?) Who in response to a

tragic news item (like the young mother of 3 killed by her husband up in Ubon)

gossip like old ladies about the age difference, the fact that they live in Pattaya, hence

she was a bar girl with loads of bits on the the side etc etc without any details supporting

these statements.

 

These posters are, well, sad.

 

So, if anyone gives a fig....

If I reply to a rant with a haha, I am mocking you.

If I reply to a victim bashing/ prejudist post with a sad face , the I think that you are sad.

No, that works too, depending on context.

I think the Ha Ha is more clear though when you're laughing at a point made seriously. Sad could easily mean the content of the post is sad, without dissing the member.
