Phuket International Airport Director, Petch Chancharoen, has announced that some runways and taxiways will be closed from April 27 – May 8 for 6 hours each day for cleaning and maintenance.

The closing time of the runways and taxiways will start 30 minutes after midnight – 06.30am on each of the repair days.

Also, the taxiway “P” will be closed for repairs to the surface from April 30 – May 3 from 6.30am – 12.30pm. These closures follow the annual operation plan of Phuket International Airport under the standards of ICAO.

Last time they did this chaos ensued in arrivals.

Most of the Chinese flights arrive after midnight. Re-scheduling them will cause big problems in other time slots.

If planning had been their forte there would be a 2nd runway now but too busy milking the goat

It wouldnt happwn anywhere wlse in the world would it?

No sir

Of course some like Heathrow and Sydney close all night from midnight to 6.30am every day.  It might have been good planning to have Krabi used more during this period and arrange land transport.

Phuket needs to twin its runway, so when is that going to happen?. They are a very busy

tourist destination and make lots of money at that airport so build the 2nd runway

all ready...
