Thai Police Chief orders crackdown on foreign mafia gangs

When this story originally broke in the news about the arrests, I couldn't escape the thought:

So in Thailand, it's illegal to pay for sex or to participate in a paid sex party organized by foreigner.

But, apparently, it's perfectly legal, or at least routinely allowed, for countless Thai bars under the police's supervision to collect countless bar fines and for countless bar girls based on those bar fines to engage in prostitution out in the open for anyone to see.

Perhaps it comes down to where the proceeds of those transactions are going, and who is or isn't getting their cut of the action.

Nobody would have heard about it if you had just let consenting adults do what they wanted to do.  Yet another example of the 'Streisand Effect'.

You seem to forget the 1500 entrance fee!!!!!!

Maybe its a new Nigerian romance scam where you get the sex first and pay later to get the video back!

Shhhh, don't give them ideas. The current one is getting a bit old-hat, so there probably scraping around for something novel.

He went on to say that Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, the police chief, has always emphasized the policy to prevent crimes, especially transnational crimes and to seriously and continually crack down on foreign criminal gangsters.

Obviously the criminals - foreign and Thai - haven't got the message.

"Foreign Mafia Gangsters"

Hmm... a wee bit xenophobic, isn't it? People at an orgy? Including Thai people?

What about Domestic Mafia Gangsters? Does this mean that they get a free pass? Or is this a case where they need to be protected so that Thailand can develop their own world-class Mafia gangster?

I do believe that mafioso is an occupation reserved for Thias only.

Research history. When threatened by internal and domestic problems, the handbook recommends blaming various religious, political, ethnic and foreign groups.

How surprising it is that these people only ever open their mouth to change feet. One of the fine days they will frighten the life out of us and jump in with both. Ooops, sorry, they have already done that.:passifier:

By domestic mafia gangsters do you mean the RTP and the military?

all of these self-appointed international image consultants, most of whom have never been outside thailand

But on this issue they would be correct. Then there is the issue of the police themselves.....that image is far from flattering.
