:o

I know calling this particular smiley would appear to be an oxymoron based on its appearance, but does it signify disapproval? Or anything else.

I would appreciate any thoughts.

How did you do that, change your post without an edit showing?

Ahh, MOD of course :o

I guess I use it when I'm indicating "I'm watching you". :D Could also mean to fear me or fear you. Never really has been clear to me as to appropriate use.

I'm completely bamboozled

What is 133t speak

Letters replaced with numbers ?? then plse explain the above...what does represent U

I am just a simple Englishman, you've got the advantage Moss but I still don't understand PH34r, is it a combination of visual & audio :o

T3ch sp34k aside I always took it as

a sort of menace.

Sort of a non-turtle ninja , or it's modern

equivalents - the heavily armed "militant"

or "special police".

Come to think of it Moss , the balaclava

look was in fashion with "the boys" at one time.

I sometimes use it as a tongue-in-cheek

glare or GRRR!

But this time !

:o:D :D

You have said something that is likely to result in negative comments and you are hiding in your flameproof shelter.

I like that one. :o

Menace I understand, but a little toothless in cyberspace me thinks :D

The glare, I understand, a sort of disapproving statement, I seem to remember you using it on me once upon a time, quite justifiably I might add, but the reason I ask on this occasion is that it has been used recently in a sense that I didn't quite understand, by a MOD, and not against me, or I would have fully understood its context.

I am not discussing moderation issues here, just trying to fathom, the use of :o , it would appear I am not alone.

Can of worms Moss, bloddy can of worms :o

Can of riddles, wrapped up in a puzzle and surrounded by an enigma, more like. :D

If you fathom it before me please let me know thanks.

Now that makes a little more sense, but when used by a MOD is it to suggest, disapprovement and that you are being watched :o

a little like tywais keeps a very close eye on me when I make an appearance.

I suspect most have their own little interpretation of it like mine above. Don't think there is a blanket definition, just interpret based on context. :D

I rarely use it now except to apply it as a caution (I'm watching), so if you see me use it - watch out. :D

Honestly, just coincidental. I subscribe to a few forums, Internet and forum support being two of them. My e-mailer is setup to look every 1 minute and wakes me up when 'I have mail'. If it is a new topic in these forums, I usually respond promptly. So no, I'm not starring at the computer 24/7 wating for a new post. :o

The "menace" thing was just a comment

on the aspect of the smiley and my

association with different groups who find

the balaclava a suitable fashion accessory.

They share one thing in common , they are

all scary people who should not be loose on

the streets.

Jeez I don't remember "glaring" at you but

at least now you know now it was only tongue

in cheek.

As for the toothless bit I would agree with

you but I'm a bit concerned why you chose

that word because I do have a small problem

in that area and with all these CCTV's and

satellites and stuff you could become a bit

fuggin paranoid if you follow my meaning.

Until reading this thread, I have always thought/used it in the context of saying something and hiding (as mentioned by someone above). ie: Saying something I probably shouldn't admit in public, then sort of hiding from it...

I am thinking people are having different interpretations of this Smiley, which is a bit of a worry as someone could take it in the wrong war, but that's by-theby.

Thanks Kayo, but that interpretation doesn't add up with the instance I am trying to fathom out.

But I will persevere,
