BANGKOK — A defense ministry spokesman on Thursday said political reconciliation now reigns over Thailand – because there is no longer any street protest from the Redshirts and Yellowshirts.

The regime’s reconciliation mission was achieved when protests were stopped after the National Council for Peace and Order, or NCPO, seized power nearly four years ago, Col. Wanchana Sawasdee said. He spoke on the same day a revamped army mascot is set to hit the streets to promote peace and unity.

Army says lack of protests signals reconciliation. That is the best joke i have read in a long while. Lack of protests is because of fear of being taken away for attitude adjustment.

The mascot recently underwent a rebranding effort, after netizens criticized her haunting looks when she was first unveiled in November.

The improved version looks like a disproportionate reject from a Japanese sex doll factory in Fukushima.

Nong Kiew Koy.......she's achieved reconciliation, maybe now she can work on corruption and the road toll!

First show that the guns in your hand lack bullets, then let's see if there is lack of protests

just cos you say it, doesnt make it fact

A bit like "The watch saga is over".

Do they think that people swallow this BS.

Reconciliation - a narrative to justify army occupation of the seat of government and, subsequent suppression of the people.

  • Popular Post

Reconciliation has been achieved because there are no street protests. What an interesting cynical assessment. Did Col. Wanchana fight to hold back his laughter while reading out this statement or is he so well trained that he was able to keep a straight face?

Nothing like a good dose of infantile propaganda.....which many will believe!

Most of them! As long as there is rice for the next meal, most don't give a rat's toss what goes on around them!

And the yellow shirts don't protest because they won and their political faction is in power.

"Weng, who was detained alongside other political figures for over a week by the military following the coup, said his faction was prevented from organizing political assemblies in the last four years because of the junta’s intimidation and prosecution of those who violate its ban on protests."

“It may appear to you that the sea is calm on the surface. Actually, it’s full of big waves and strong wind,” the Redshirt leader said. “If they want to know what people really think, they must cancel all NCPO orders.”

Of course the military doesn't want to know what the people really think, that's why it doesn't allow protests, free press, political gatherings, elections...

  • Popular Post

Lack of protests signals lack of being allowed to protest.

  • Popular Post

They don't actually believe that, but they need to say mission accomplished as a condition for elections.

There's a General somewhere in the Junta who signed off on the campaign's official mascot - a pink blow up doll in Dr. Evil pose.

Thanks for the laugh...what a load of BS. Like the Army guy in the back ground of the picture on the left...would be more appropriate with him middle finger up.

Just gotta love 'em... a laff a minute.

Have to give it to the NCPO. They nailed it when they hired their comedy writer!

Is this what they meant by bringing happiness to the people?
