BANGKOK — A defense ministry spokesman on Thursday said political reconciliation now reigns over Thailand – because there is no longer any street protest from the Redshirts and Yellowshirts.

 

The regime’s reconciliation mission was achieved when protests were stopped after the National Council for Peace and Order, or NCPO, seized power nearly four years ago, Col. Wanchana Sawasdee said. He spoke on the same day a revamped army mascot is set to hit the streets to promote peace and unity.

That is the best joke i have read in a long while.

Lack of protests is because of fear of being taken away for attitude adjustment.

Reconciliation - a narrative to justify army occupation of the seat of government and, subsequent suppression of the people.

Reconciliation has been achieved because there are no street protests. What an interesting cynical assessment. Did Col. Wanchana fight to hold back his laughter while reading out this statement or is he so well trained that he was able to keep a straight face? 

Nothing like a good dose of infantile propaganda.....which many will believe!

Of course the military doesn't want to know what the people really think, that's why it doesn't allow protests, free press, political gatherings, elections...

Lack of protests signals lack of being allowed to protest.

They don't actually believe that, but they need to say mission accomplished as a condition for elections.

 

There's a General somewhere in the Junta who signed off on the campaign's official mascot - a pink blow up doll in Dr. Evil pose.
