Ubon police were called to a one story rented house in Kham Yai sub-district on Sunday afternoon after neighbors noticed a foul odor emanating from the property.

Inside they found 71 year old Hiroshi Osanai from Tokyo dead face up on a mattress in the center of a room.

There were two fans blowing at his head and feet and the air conditioning was also on.

He had been dead at least two weeks.

There were no suspicious circumstances. He was not injured at all and there was 31,520 baht found in a bag.

Neighbor Wasana Phonsimma, 43, said that he was a former promoter of boxing in Japan. He had rented the house for about a year and kept himself to himself.

When he had not been seen for two weeks and had not used his car neighbors investigated and after smelling a foul odor called the cops.

Police suspected he died from natural causes.

The body was sent for autopsy.

A passport found at the scene was issued by the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok.
