My wife and I are trying to conceive and recently visited the Women's Center at Bumrungrad Hospital. She had an ultrasound done, which revealed a benign intramural fibroid. The gynecologist at Bumrungrad suggested that we have it removed via laparoscopic surgery in order to prevent any future complications if pregnancy occurs.  I'm sure that the surgeons at Bumrungrad are top-notch, but we're both a bit concerned whether or not the surgery is necessary. We felt a bit pushed toward having the operation and, I think there's a strong financial incentive for private hospitals to push for an expensive procedure even if it might not be necessary.

Does anyone know a good hospital or doctor in Bangkok that specializes in fibroids (and their effects on fertility and child bearing) that could give us a second opinion and doesn't always go straight to the nuclear option? Relatedly, if we have to go for laparoscopic myomectomy, are there any surgeons that come highly recommended?

The presence of fibroids does slightly increase the risk of miscarriage in pregnancy.

Intramural fibroids, such as she has,   may also make it difficult to become pregnant in the first place.
