The Phuket Governor Norraphat Plodthong attended activities yesterday (May 8) at the Baan Para Pier in Paklok at 4pm. Joining him were the Chief of the Phuket office of the Department of Fisheries, Kowit Kaoean and others.

 

Mr Kowit says, “Our marine resources are being degenerated and decreased as illegal fisheries equipment continue to be used and there are many fisheries activities putting demands on our marine eco system. People in the community are now wanting to take part to preserve our marine resources.”

 

“The Governor joined with us to release five million flower crabs and 10,000 shellfish. Thirty sets of ‘Fish Aggregating Devices’ or fish houses were also installed for baby fish to live when they’re at risk from larger predators.

that looks more like a fish trap.

hope they spend not to much money on that equipment.

 

That "floating device" shows how serious they are taking this issue.  No expense spared.  :biggrin:
