Man walks in front of train in apparent suicide at Korat station

By The Nation

To the horror of waiting passengers, an unidentified man who had apparently been drinking walked onto the tracks in front of a train arriving at Nakhon Ratchasima station on Friday morning and was killed instantly.

Police summoned at 8am could find no identification documents on the body of the man, who appeared to be about 50 years old.

He was wearing cream trousers and a white long-sleeve shirt over a red T-shirt.

Security guard Thonglorm Khaosuk told police the man had suddenly risen from a passenger bench and walked onto the tracks just as the Kaeng Koi-Khon Kaen train was approaching.

Thonglorm blew his whistle and the train driver blared the horn, but the man ignored them. The train’s momentum prevented it from stopping in time.

Waiting passengers screamed in shock.

Police found a water bottle on the bench where the man has been sitting and determined it contained a mix of water and cheap white liquor.

Pol Lt Kanokwat Chansakha said the man was believed to be homeless and had been living at the station for several days.

Some day I hope the world has people who solve the homeless and hunger and mental health issues. Peace to the passengers and the deceased family members.
