He says it was overreacted, but with what evidence?  Three people were already dead and it was spreading fast across 37 provinces, hundreds of infected dogs were found, no human deaths since, what would of been their lesser response and would anyone have died?  

 

The normal response would be to tell people to take the mange ridden soi dogs that they feed into their home for eight weeks, really?  I think the normal response worldwide would be to have taken them to the pound a long time ago, many countries would have also charged the owners with neglect and banned them from keeping animals.

As long as people let their dogs run around freely attacking people, especially children (which we can read about from time to time) and there is already an outbreak of rabies... then culling is the only way we can move forward. That said, these dogs should have been killed a long time ago and not left in a camp to rot like this.

You are yet another poster to miss the point. It's the manner in which the dogs are held without food or care and the attitude of Thais that has allowed this situation to occur that is at issue here. Soi dogs are a problem, but that problem can be dealt with humanely or inhumanely. I have been bitten and had to have rabies too but still feel compassion for the dogs. It's not their fault they have been dumped and left to procreate.

No not a good thing, but simply, they all should have been put down upon capture not in confined space with little food.  But I think you can be sure that the worst dog was in the picture come on Thailand keep up the good work in culling these terribly sick and deceased suffering dogs cats rats pigs and what ever else just tidy Thailand up of these animals to make it safe all Thai and tourists.

I agree about the need for action. I cannot support any response to the problem that fails to cater for the basic needs of the dogs in these shelters.
