I have done many things in life, and like to call myself a Vagabond, and not a salesman, soldier, engineer, offshore worker, sailor, fisherman, farmer, driver, actor, stunt man, security, lifeguard, and so on. An old bar lady who become a house wife, should be named house wife, even her earlier work. People deserves some respect until they prove themselves not. I seriously wonder what kind of miserable life some people at tv have, when they continue ranting about the same over and over in a negative way, about people they do not know anything about, except the little based on their own experiences. Doesn't mean anything particularly that there are less ex-pats. It is not like Thailand and Thai people are a different planet as different as they may be, you might as well stay home if you don't like a different environment, I don't think it ends up being much cheaper to live here.
