Nah, you know after it can be clearly seen that the man has taken his own life by cutting himself with a pack of razors, then almost everybody that is equipped with a measurable level of IQ can assume that he was depressed over something. On the other hand, I am still waiting for you to come up with the murder conspiracy theory.

Yes, most likely depression etc but a little concerning if the police investigation, possible insurance payout, explanation for family and friends, even the overall suicide statistics etc, is all based on the expert opinion of "the guy that does the rentals".

No, nothing more than the news is based on his opinion, because the journalist chosed to write it that way. There is nobody with an expert opinion in this piece of news. Why do you let your imagination run away with you?

If he received a monthly pension he should enjoy life in Thailand instead of being depressed. But he could have been seriously ill. we will never know.

Exactly. A post mortem diagnosis of depression by professionals will help the deceased a lot.

I was unwell for a few days ,and i thank goodness that i have a loving wife and family that care for me so well ,it must be hell to be lonely and alone .

Thais might have many faults (as do we all) but Thais are some of the friendliest people that you can meet from all walks of life. A person would have to be an extremely introvert not to have friends and or acquaintances here And even most of the farangs are friendly here. Sad for him.

You know, I think suicide is more about having no money than loneliness.

Agree, not good being alone, but if you have money there’s always someone to take good care of you and things for you to do...

RIP Sir.

Outside of extreme pain I have always considered the act of suicide a very cowardly thing to do .I had a high rolling friend in the US to comit suicide when he owed the IRS an extremely large amount of money .Sure his wife can collect the insurance money (over two years) but he left to

children of 5 and 6 with no father and the IRS still gets the money first. Stupid act.

He wasn't "diagnosing" anything, he clearly knew the man and stated that he was alone and depressed, don't need to be a mental health professional to see that someone is depressed.  But, perhaps he was a mental health professional, you don't know that he wasn't, do you?

You're the only one who is suggesting that could be a possibility, so, no, not at all concerning.

You quoted "the guy that does the rentals", where did that "quote" come from, it sure wasn't quoted like that in the OP.

Thailand, the patron saint country of lost souls, the desperate, despondent, depressed, dysfunctional, folks running away and/or hiding out and as we can see here on Thaivisa forums, those who are bored out of their wits with no life, no real friends, and no social skills... Bloody unreal. No wonder we are reading these same stories week after week, with the same asshats leaving the same unnecessary comments. For G-ds sake lads, even if you're one of the 90% of expats who are here because they belong to one of the groups mentioned above - if you see a bloke in trouble - Help Him! Cheezuz Rice!

Well said Cactus

if full retirement, then can't tell what rank petty officer, chief or not.  He is one year from social security eligibility also, so he should have been able to afford a decent moderate retirement.  Not lavish but should be over $2000/month easily take home.

A very sad story

Why does it warrant someone finding an excuse to have an unnecessary swipe at a good Samaritan..someone who was watching out for the guy.

Besides we all have a very good idea of when we believe ssomeone is depressed.

Some very very mean spirited callous individuals in our midst who maybe nees to take a long hard look at their own state of mind when just about every thread on here descends into a thai bashing exercise for the most spurious and unproven reasons.

Rip american man

Police need to question his former girlfriend. According to sources, she was very upset that he was not giving her the $$ she was wanting anymore!

Statistics show this type of “suicide” is extremely rare, the most common being overdose, slit wrist or gunshot.

We don’t believe this was suicide!! He was not “depressed!”
