I think you'll need, or they will request signed certified copies of your landlords Tabien Baan and ID card.

Maybe UJ can comment.

By ID card, I'm hoping you mean his foreign driver's license since he is a Farang and a copy of it is part of my rental agreement.  Where would I get a Tabien Baan; from the actual owner of the condo, or the condo management company?

I see no reason to get the 30 day extension if you will have the 800k baht in the bank on the 21st of this month. You can apply as soon as you have the it in the bank.

Chiang Mai immigration requires you to make an appointment to do the application. I suggest you do that as soon as possible since it could be weeks later than when you request it.

Oh, I didn't realize that.  Can you make the appointment by phone or email, or do you have to do it in-person?  I searched their website but found nothing specific to application procedures for a TM86

Assuming he owns the Condo and isn't sub letting it, then he should have a Blue Tabien Baan as proof of the address, but by law he cannot be named in it, so a copy of his passport photo page would provide his ID.

Province by province, Immigration office by Immigration office, government department by government department, bank by bank.

Welcome to Thailand where the only certainty is the uncertainty.

Does anybody know if Immigration at Promenada in Chinag Mai is set up so I can just go in and ask a staff member questions (in English)?  UbonJoe says I need to make an appointment to submit Non-O application.  I can't find anything on their website about this.  I'm guessing I just need to go there in-person to do this.  It's a long distance for me so I just want to be sure I don't need to first make an appointment so that I can make an appointment for my application LOL!!

I can't even find their website. LOL.

You may have more luck posting your question on the Chiang Mai Forum.

If you need to ask informations, the IO at Promenada may be difficult to reach if they are busy rubber stamping or drinking coffee, but some of the counters (ie the 90 days report and the retirement extensions) have assistants who would probably be easy to talk to.

Outside the main immigration hall, a few young guys are in charge of handing out the various forms. They might be able to assist you.

If you really need to talk to an IO, I think a good trick is to bring with you a thai lady acting as your wife/friend, I have seen the IO often drop all they are doing to help the lady.

Last but not least, you can probably get very good updated info from the agent on the 3rd floor. State your situation, and see if they can help you, you are always free to decide otherwise.

Ubonjoe and others, thanks.  I always organise the O-A [ Retirement ]Visa in country of origin New Zealand.

I have always just sent a copy of bank account print out, with the 800,000 showing as NZ dollars about $NZ40,000.

Thai Embassy NZ like the statement to be signed and then witness signed by a Justice of Peace.

I find adobe acrobat pdf  editor  a big help.

Similar with health document, and Police record.[witness siganture]

This year I will apply for permanent residence on the basis of consecutive 0-A Visas.

You will not be able to do that. To apply for permanent residency you have to be working with a work permit and paying taxes for the 3 consecutive years on extensions of stay.

ahh curses,

I thought if I took a work permit [ self funded photography researcher ]

I could gain permanent residency.

It is expensive applying for O-A New Zealand   $NZ 250, and at least a week's work.

I am with a Thai woman, and God do I look after her, you would think they would want me here

If your 50 or over you can apply for an annual extension of stay based on retirement at your local Immigration office for 1,900 baht, provided you meet the financial criteria.

Be thankful they avoided being a British colony or else it would be far worse.

You will need 2 letters from the bank. One to confirm your account and the balance in it on the date it is written. The other one will be to confirm that the funds came from abroad.

Hello Ubonjoe... I have some question as I am now the second time on a one year non immigrant retirement a-o visa ..i applied both times 2016/2018 and received them in my home country showing 20000 euros in the bank account including a letter of the bank where they confirmed that i am their customer (?)...anyway for the future i thought i just buy some LTF fund in thailand with sone 20000 + euros and let the money there. for ( hopefully ) growth...a Thai friend of mine was quiet succesfull with his LTFs...now can i use this investment to show proof of funds for future visas or extensions...????.? finally as it grows and sits in thailand it will not come from outside in the future...I might apply for new future visa outside of thailand or in Thailand or in the form of an extension .... or in any other thinkable variation ....thank you in advance

A LTF fund would not be accepted by immigration. It must be in an account that allows immediate withdrawal without penalty other than loss of interest.

Hello Ubonjoe...Thank you for your quick answer...are u sure about this...???? because LTF can he sold any time ...if u have 20000 shares for example you can sell any quantity for the current rate ( maybe fees deducted but thats up to the bank ) it can be done online and money will be transfered back in the normal account immediately...but for everyday expenses I logicaly would not use these funds as I hope for profit and use other funds for that matter...if LTF  would be accepted these account would have three functions...use for visa security / earn money with it better than in any account ( my friend had a 20% growth in value each yearb for two years but this year his first lost but average very well above bankrates )...tax free after 5 years...and reducing thai income tax ( for locals )...a healthy product...

Yes I am sure it would not be accepted by immigration since they expect it to be in a standard savings or fixed term account.

Not sure how you would show the balance in that type of fund for 3 the months required.

They give u a kind of bankbook ( physical ) where u can always update ..and they print it there..same time u can buy more or sell online very flexible and I highly recommend

Regarding “proof” that 800k funds come from outside Thailand, how does the bank document this?  I mean, in my case, I transferred US$ electronically from my us bank to Bank of Bangkok savings account.  I’m assuming Bangkok Bank has some sort of record of the funds coming from a foreign source, but am not sure how they will document this in a letter.

if I just tell the bank I am using the letter they provide in order to fulfill the visa requirement, will they understand and provide me with acceptable documentation?

They have a record that the money came from abroad. You also have a record of it coming from abroad in your bank book. Each one will have FTT (foreign telex transfer) in the code column.

The bank should understand what is required.
