The first trailer for Forest Whitaker and Johnny Depp's movie all about the murders of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur has arrived – and it is just as intense as you'd imagine.

City of Lies follows a journalist (Whitaker) desperate to find out why the case into Biggie and Tupac's deaths is still open and an LAPD detective (Depp) who worked on the case.

The film, which is set to be released this September, is said to be based on the true story of one of the USA's most prolific and (literally) notorious unsolved cases.

Watch a trailer for the thriller below. It's just as much about police corruption and the make-up of Los Angeles as it is Biggie and Tupac, so yes, it's definitely worth a look.

It would be nothing short of a miracle, if a film starring Whitaker and Depp was any good. Both have fallen completely off the rails. Depp has made one terrible film after another, and it has been ages since Whitaker demonstrated the form he had back in the days of Ghost Dog. One can only hope.

I like  " Lush Life " with Whitaker and Jeff Goldblum
