Bush And Iran

Featured Replies

The prior Afghan government sponsored and harbored a radical group which lauched terror attacks that killed over 3000 American and other citizens.

Armed and trained by the US originally to fight the USSR.

You ommited that because it doesn't fit into your view of things.

Do you think we, like most intelligent people, don't know how it all got started Spee?

Or maybe you don't know that. :D

I also like the fact that most of that (the training/funding/equipping) of the Taliban (and Northern Alliance) came during Ronald Reagan's time in office, and it was also during that time that Osama got his start.

Funny how the Republicans ignore that and keep trying to blame Osama on the Democrats. :o

Saying the US trained, funded and equipped the Taliban isn't correct. The Taliban didn't exist as a philosophically driven organized group until the mid-90s. Granted the Taliban attracted former mujahideen fighters.

Fer suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure did you think that up yourself or did Fox tell you that?

For someone who likes to chide others about their intelligence you sure use the word "that' alot and in awkward manners too. I don't watch Fox News. The shouting and talking over each other is not my cuppa. You might try watching C-SPAN or C-SPAN 2 to better understand American events.

Facts is facts. The Taliban did not exist prior to the mid 90s. Their movement evolved from Pakistani wahhabist schools. To say all Talibanist presrcibe to a certain political philosophy is asking to much of them. I'll grant that much. I'd say for the average schlub social pressure and local economics require people to join cliques or groups in order to get along and find work.

Ok so... I'll try not to use the word 'that' too much for you.

The US supported the Mujahadeen, who then became the Taliban who then beacame Al Quieda.

And Pakistan is an ally of the US.

Is that right?

Please tell me if I missed something.

OK...Clinton let Bin Laden get away.

Hahahaha ur sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny.

The Mujahadeen are from a different region than the area from which the Taliban arose. The Taliban were a tool used by the Pakastani government to maintain destablization of the Afghani terrritory. I get the impression the peoples of these regions are so aggressive if one is not destabilizing the other than the other will seek to destabilize them. They like to fight. "I kill you!' seems to be a popular phrase. :o Al-queda is a movement founded by Arabs. They are a whole different animal as far as I know.

Ok point taken, somebody comes across with a good point and I'm still ranting because of the nonsense posted by some others.

Please tell me if I missed something.

OK...Clinton let Bin Laden get away.

Unfortunately this is true but as at the time Osama was entertaining a party including Sheikh Hamdan the Crown Prince of Dubai it was decide that killing the brother of one of their grestest allies in the Arab World was not acceptable collateral damage.
