Every tool Trump has to attempt to bully Mexico into paying for the wall will hurt the US economy and a large portion of his base.  Mexico knows this.  So Trump is making noise but will change the subject, and his gullible base won't care.

Now come on, that is hardly a comparison , there is no possibility that you will fly to the moon in an arm chair , there is the distinct possibility that Mexicans will pay for the wall .

isn't it really irrelevant who pays for the wall.  After all money is immaterial.  it's paper or digital recognition that is created to distribute wealth  when and where it is needed. The most important is Who has the final say on the go ahead and if there are willing hands to work. As it stands thus far it seems it is not being demanded.

I think only token gestures will happen like strengthening existing borders. I don't think a full blown wall will be built.

The probability of Mexico sending a cheque to the USA to pay for the wall are very slim , but there are other ways in which they could be forced into paying for the wall : Raise USA visa prices for Mexicans , have a $20 charge to use the border , start taxing all the illegal Mexican workers in the USA .

These ideas are hair-brained. $20 additional per border crossing would generate an estimated $30M per month (and consider that arrivals have been steadily falling). That will allow us to pay back the cost in only 55 short years!  Excellent deal making! 

 

Oops - we forgot about paying for the interest on that twenty billion we borrowed for the wall. Let me get out my trusty amortization calculator to see what kind of financial hole we've dug ourselves into with that twenty billion dollar loan:

Does anything Trump did up to now gives you the impression he's on top of things? Especially when it comes to actual details?

 

Trump may have better access to information. That doesn't say a whole lot about how he utilizes it or whether he actually does. Come to think about it, strike that. It actually does say a whole lot that the POTUS, with all the information available to him, would constantly spew misleading statements and outright lies.

 

Trump does not have the ability to "force Mexico to pay for the wall", at least not without either hurting US economy as well, or dispatching with the way the US is run.

 

Whereas you rely on Trump's campaign or campaign-like statements, posters have produced facts, figures and reasoned arguments as to why this is a failed proposition.
