BANGKOK — A top junta figure is mulling legal action against a transparency activist who accused the government of illegally planning to acquire an expensive satellite network to spy on its citizens.

 

Through a spokesman, Gen. Prajin Juntong, who serves as deputy prime minister, slammed the allegations as baseless and said he had ordered lawyers to prepare a case against Srisuwan Janya, though he did not specify what charges would be brought.

Just a thought. Can the whistleblower apply to the courts for police protection under the Witness Protection scheme?

I'm sure they can and the service is exceptional, no one can get at them, as no one can find them, ever!

The problem I see with that is that WP system is run by the police.

 

The government run the police force and the government are the ones who are after the whistleblower.

On one hand 93 billion baht is made available for satellites and on the other school children are being fed kanom jin and fish sauce for lunch as the schools budget is not sufficient.

They are going to need to build a whole lot more prisons if they hope to have room for all the critics of this silly project.....The submaines almost look like a sound investment compared to the satellites...

Srisuwan facing lawsuit over “spy satellite”

Deputy Prime Minister Prajin Juntong has instructed the legal office of the Justice Ministry to look into political activist Srisuwan Janya’s comment about the Defence Ministry’s plan to purchase military satellites and file a complaint against him for giving a false statement that confused the public, according to his  spokesman.

 

On June 3, Mr Srisuwan issued a statement against the Defence Ministry’s new satellite project, accusing the government of attempting to incur up to 91.2 billion in public debt to fund the satellite procurement project.

 

Spokesman ACM Monthon Satchukorn said the Defence Council had approved a proposal for the Defence Ministry to draft a 2018-2027 strategic plan on space affairs for country defence purposes in paving the way for the purchase of 112 Theia satellites.

The buffoonery has hit epic proportions: prosecute without a charge. As vacuous as space itself.

It seems there are two whistleblowers. The original mystery big shot whistle blower on the inside who attended the meeting about the satellite which Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha explained was "merely brought up during a "recent discussions". He must have then passed the information to whistleblower  No. 2, the activist on the outside who in turn released it to the media. 

So who do the junta go after? The political activist naturally rather than the troublemaker on the insider who fed him the information to him. Normal anti-activist response in juntaland.

I don't think that Thais would swear on a bible Being Buddhist. That is a Christain thing.

 

I honestly have no idea what they wpu;d swear on. Any body ahve any ideas?

So, the satellites which we are NOT buying, will be used to locate natural resources and not to spy on people. Where do they find these simpletons?
