We are going to visit both Koh Tao & Koh Phangan for a couple days each. We plan to take the train from Bangkok.........

I am having a hard time figuring out all the train/ferry schedules. What is the easiest way to do this? Should we go to Koh Tao first or last? Or does it really matter?

thanks!

Train is probably easier to Koh Phangan as they train station sells what is called a joint ticket to the island, includes train, bus to pier and boat to the island. From here there are quite a few trips to Tao during the day, starting from early am to 2:30 in the afternoon.

Be sure to get the 2nd class sleeper, if you have the time to spend on an overnight train it is quite nice. Bit noisy if you are a light sleeper tho. I take the aircon train because one time the fan over my berth didn't work and it was the hottest trip I have ever endured.

If you are going to Tao and Phang ghan.

By busing to Donsak /Surat its a long boring journey same by Train, both options go right past Chumporn that is the closet transit to Koh Tao

Bus to CHUMPORN 5hrs-ferry to Tao2.5 hrs (lomphrya and seatran do combo tickets)

www.kohtaoonline.com.com

Tao to phan ghan by ferry 1.5hrs buy ticket on day both companys leave in morning and afternoon.

Phanghan to Samui 20mins by ferry .

Flight to Bkk from Samui (take advantage of early bird flight or last flight book in advance 2500bht) book in advance.
