SCOTT FITZGERSLD
is one day overstay a problem? for example, visa extention expires on 20, and i leave on 21 - will i have to pay any fine or get stamp in passport?
elviajero
If leaving from the Bangkok airports the fine is usually waived. You might get a stamp in your passport (overstayed less than 24 hours), but that’s nothing to worry about it if you do.
Carib
What has been said already; Leaving at the airport it is no big deal and costs (500B/day) are waved. For land border crossings one will be made to pay the fine.
NCNC
I have a similar question, if I leave thailand 10 days after my 90 day reporting is due, so passed the 7 day deadline, what kind of issues would I have. I would be flying out of Bangkok airport.

But IF you come back and do the first 90 day report thereafter, you may be forced to pay a fine for not reporting in time, that is if they notice. 1

It’s possible, but highly unlikely, that your local office could collect an overdue address report fine when you report in the future. Immigration aren't intetested in the address of people leaving the country as they’re leaving the country.

The fine is not always waived I know someone from the Philippines was made to pay it leaving bkk having only overstayed under 5 hours

I just picked up 90 days from where my new arrival stamp's date indicated on my passport at airport immigration. I didn't face a fine or anything from Jomtien Immigration when it came time to visit them for my next 90 day report, because they could see I wasn't in the country from my passport entry/exit dates.
Rc2702
I was escorted to the office upon my departure from DMK to Penang and made to pay 500 baht for a 1 day overstay. 1

Immigration must have realised a lot of 500thb notes slipping through their fingers.... You can still book a early morning flight the first day of your overstay and walk through immigration at 23.50 on your last day and relax on the other side as far as I know that's still permissable without being "overstayed" even though you left a bit late

You do realize that Penang does not issue tourist visas to anyone that have an overstay stamp. This started a couple of months ago, so everyone telling an overstay stamp has no implications are living in the past.

And at other airports the fee was quite often not waived for a long time already. So stating 'waived at airports' can be misleading.
EdyP
Prob not a problem . I accidentaly overstayed more than 2 months in 2012 . On my return home I approached the most happy customs passport lady at the airport and she didnt notice or turned a blind eye.
Rori ban khun fang
Overstay upto 90 days is fined with 500 bath per day. Only issues with more than the 90 days. Fines at 1 day mostly are waived. This accoring the guidelines. But at 2 days overstay it will be 1000 bath to pay. When have overstay and you know this in advance and is just one day to 2 weeks. go to your local immigration office and explain the situation. Costs 1500 bath to get extended visum for maximum 1 month. so with less than 3 days do nothing See link of thai governmenet http://tratimmigration.com/thailand-visa-overstay-regulations/
shaurene
Go to the airport and call in at emigration, they will probably wave you on with no problem if you just tell them. I bought were much they will bother with the paper work.
