have been having some serious thoughts about this thread,just imagine the real estate market, if the over 50,s farangs had not started buying and building houses for their wives and girlfriends 25 years ago, I know there are lots of single young fellas who work off shore or in the middle east and call thailand home, but still have a security net of their perfect home country where everything is apple pie, that they can scurry to if times get rough:whistling: anyway.Just like their predecessors in the 60,s, all the thai towns that had US bases had vast estates of thai houses paid for by Number 1 GI boyfriends,The estates in Korat and Ubon were enormous like little townships, by the way the suckers that were paying for everything were all clean cut young single fellas, when the lovesick GI,s were rotated , a new sucker would be quickly found to play husband and set up house and pay for it so its not only us old farts who some time get taken for a ride Nignoy

What is the debate exactly?

The Original Post stated that there were a lot more old people in Thailand than say 15 years ago. Only joking about false teeth and stuff.

It's good the oldies can have a laugh. However I bet they'd rather swap ages with the younger ones. No ones likes being old, do they? I certainly wish I could knock a few years off.

Young Thai women with older guys are after money. Call it security and experience if you want. None of the older guys I know with young ladies met them in the disco. Nearly always on the internet or in a tourist spot. It's a business arrangement and good luck to them all.

We find them on our natural environment...hospitals, farmacies, drug stores, orthopedic clinics,...

I would love to be youngest if I could take with me what I know and understand now.....but if I am going to go back knowing and understanding the same that I used to know and understand...better I stay

And while I stay, I ensure that my kids know much more than I knew when I was their age....and this is a great way to keep young..

I started to realise why people decided to retire and move here to Thailand from such shitty places as the UK many years ago, I'm 29 and will follow suit. The fact is that people get out while they can! people who have worked hard all their life should be able to enjoy a life here and good luck to them!

I'm due for retirement soon and I like LOS for a long holiday but I read and hear so much negative input e.g we're not liked, not welcome, despised, disrespected, only there for young totties, it's getting difficult for visas, we're an easy mark for gold diggers, stupid old sods etc. ad infinitum. I'm not planning on retiring there but will continue to enjoy long stays because for me it's still currently the best deal. I don't have a Thai wife and I don't particularly want one so I guess I'll be less welcome than the usual would be expat. I'll be sure to post the board though if I find a good alternative to retire to.

C'mon 'qwertz', you are not going to tell me now that you believe that this Forum is Thailand?. This forum is like Pattaya....in here, as you meet great people, you can also meet the worse of our great countries in great concentration.......

But this is not Thailand. When I walk in the streets near by where I live, I meet no farangs. Nobody tells me that does not like me, nobody is rude to me, everybody smile and is kind to me. I am not the typical tall, blonde and blue eyes farang of the movies.

There is no much input in this country, so much life. And farangs can live in a burble (of course those never-satisfied silver spoon boys will disagree with that)

You are one of this educated farangs that will make a contribution to this country, your sense of humour, your charm and your culture. There are so many ars.-holes farangs in this country that we need to balance it off...

There are difficulties..but where there are not?

PS. In here is so cool, that of you decide not to have a wife, you can have a husband....and mai pen rai!
