Two Pakistani brothers were on Saturday taken to a gold shop in Surat Thani to re-enact their alleged theft of Bt102,000 gold necklace.

The brothers were arrested in Bangkok on Friday for allegedly stealing the necklace from the Mae Mali 7 gold shop in Surat Thani’s Muang district on Wednesday evening.

Security camera footage at the shop showed two men asking to view the gold necklace and a small 1.9-gram gold ring. One man bought the gold ring for about Bt2,800, after first drawing the attention of sales staff by asking for a bargain and threatening to pay Bt300 under the price. Meanwhile, another man quickly concealed the gold necklace under the mobile phone in his left hand.

The saleswoman realised that the gold necklace was stolen only after the two left the shop.

Surat Thani police traced the licence plate number of a rented car and sought help from Bangkok police to arrest the two in the Khao San Road area.

During the re-enactment, the two apologised to the gold-shop owner, and said they were drunk at the time of the theft.

The same men were also charged with previously stealing a diamond-stud Rado watch from a watch shop in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district.

So are they out on bail again?

He done it right under their noses with another member of staff watching from the side..... I’d be furious if I were their boss.
