Thai woman falls to death from Pattaya apartment building - Australian boyfriend held for questioning

Featured Replies

Have a condo in BKK....balcony handrail is 90cm...ok for here.....but window on outside wall opens and is 75cms!...No ruling on window sill heights and part of the reason for many falls

Have bars installed now.

How about not assuming you have the authority to dictate what other members post?   Ironically, his comment contributed more to the thread than your instructions and was more relevant.

While not conclusive, his demeanor seems to of genuine concern. You can hear him tell her to keep breathing and asks where is the ambulance. RIP Wilawil. I hope for everyone's sake, this was a tragic

If you were going to jump you would from the 5th floor eh?   you would be certain that would end in death? don't think so

Just to note - terminal velocity isn't the measure of serious harm to a falling human body. As pointed out, terminal velocity is the point at which air resistance counteracts gravity's acceleration. Falling from higher than 30 ft. is potentially fatal. At 30 ft., you'll hit the ground at approximately 22 mph. And of course, higher = faster. Even a fall from 10 ft. can cause serious injuries. From that height, you're only going to hit the ground at 8 miles an hour (a brisk jogging speed) but would you jog straight into a wall?

Almost without a doubt a 5th floor fall would be fatal.

Well if you had a choice why not go to a higher floor as is the case in most 'jumpers' to ensure certainty?  anyway there are much better methods don't you think?  Everyone here is assuming all is 'as it seems' and we don't know.

Edit:  I've just researched a bit online and 150 feet is 95/98% certain (10 to 15 stories high):

The most important factor in suicide by jumping is height. Stone2 states that jumping from 150 feet (46 metres) or higher on land, and 250 feet (76 metres) or more on water, is 95% to 98% fatal. 150 feet/46 metres, equates to roughly 10 to 15 stories in a building, depending on the height of one story. 250 feet is the height of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

everyone where is assuming what exactly

do you know what emotion is and how it affects the brain

let the police do their job but an unhinged person could well jump from a low balcony or she may have been pushed or fell.

wasn't the aussie though

If a Farang died it will be a sad story of another guy died here, and people forget it next week.

This will go on TV debates and news for months.

Thai brain damaged working girls are always threatening suicide

Had one sitting on the ledge on the floor below me screaming her lungs out at her farang boyfriend. Security were able to yank her back inside fortunately

Maybe Foxconn (Hon Hai) could be hired to consult Pattaya officials. They have installed safety nets to prevent workers to commit suicides in dormitories. Has been quite effective...

Wow.. not good.

What worries me the most is, in my home country there may be one balcony fall  per year but here it happens almost every other day... ?

Fifth floor?  highly unlikely she just jumped?  RiP

So please tell us, what floor constitutes suicide and what floor represents Murder...Detective?

Interesting to note the Farang has been held for questioning, Thai partners of Foreigners that die the same way go about their business, looks to me as if the RTP are already coming up with an answer , right or wrong ! We all know thei investigative skills are not good, easy for them top say pushed , he did it rather than admit a Thai might actually fall over themselves.

Wow.. not good.
Mint mansion?, is says min in the OP, thought I could smell something not right..

I agree, all the experts here have solved it.  It's a horrible scene and the guy looks very distressed. I have seen insane impulsive things from people here and abroad so your comments are irrelevant.

great detective work and only on post 2, have you ever been in a room with a totally lost the plot female, stop guessing , until you have then you aint got a clue, i live on the fourth floor ok sherlock

With the number of "jumps" being reported, it seems that most are the result of alcohol, depression, failed romance,or unrequited love. Unlike other forms of death, jumping from heights is almost always an irrevocable decision.

Have she weren’t thinking of topping herself when she/he rented the place.

One always needs to think ahead!

Ask not for whom the bell tolls...

A loss for one is a loss for all.  Nobody wins this time.

No the boyfriend seem to be up set If my girlfriend jump I would be crying very emotional he seem to come not going crazy know what I mean

In this case there's a good chance it was just an accident. When you look at the pictures of the balconies. She could have been drunk and just fell over.

R.I.P

it was 2.30 in the morning, the boyfriend said she whatever from the 4th floor, they lived on the 5th, so I would say they were on their way home from a big night out so an argument was taking place??

To the commenters above ... make up your mind, CSI Thaivisa. :coffee1: She jumped, slipped or was pushed?

That's it get the inquest done on TV. forum you  don' t have to think or know just need a conclusion. Then put it in print .speculation  is the be all and end all. Why do you need 12  just men when you've got a forum to decide

Yet on here when a farang falls off a condo block many of the usual suspects suspect foul play and often that the police have done it or being paid to turn the other way.

All agenda laden bunkum by the way.

Now its a thai person the over riding impression I get is that there is no foul play certainly on the part of the ozzie.

Hmmmmmm!
