Heathrow airport: MPs vote in favour of expansion

MPs have backed controversial plans to build a third runway at London's Heathrow airport.

The government won a key vote in the Commons by 415 votes to 119 - a majority of 296.

Tory MPs were under orders to support the government - but Boris Johnson, a leading opponent of expansion, missed the vote because he was in Afghanistan.

Me want to drive the first bulldozer...

UK Foreign Minister Boris Johnson once pledged to lie in front of bulldozers to stop construction.

Bet he finds an excuse when the first bulldozer starts work to be abroad again. :whistling:

Johnson is an opportunist with no moral backbone whatsoever.  He knew from day one that the expansion would get passed and all that crap about lying in front of bulldozers was just Boris bullsh….   So he runs away.

And some people still think he would make a good PM.  Unbelievable!

That is the worst possible decision. They should build 2 new airports, one on either coast and a high speed train to connect to London. Having the airports on the coast would save billions in fuel costs, and what the Heathrow area does not need is more planes.

Even better if built on reclaimed land far from the mainland.
