Suthep assigned to bring back Thaksin

Deputy PM Suthep Thuagsuban will initially coordinate with relevant people to bring back ousted PM Thaksin Shinawatra to the country, PM Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Thursday. Mr Abhisit said the government is ready to negotiate with all sides based on the principle of justice, so the country can progress forward. Thaksin should not be concerned that the government will mistreat him, the PM added. Deputy PM Suthep, meanwhile, admitted that he was assigned to approach Thaksin's close associates. He said the negotiation is aimed at restoring order to the country. The government already contacted his close associates and it is waiting for their response, Mr Suthep revealed. He insisted the government only wants the ex-premier to fight his graft charges in the country and does not want to aggravate

Why don't Suthep send Thaksin a first class one way ticket Dubai-Bangkok on TG. That might help. However, the Thai piolt might not want to take take-off again, with people of TRT/PPP/PTP in it.

Thaksin is fine: children

Three children of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra went to cast their votes in the Bangkok governor election on Sunday afternoon, saying that their father is doing fine. Panthongtae, Pinthongta, and Paethongtan Shinawatra went to vote at Pimonvit School in Bang Phlat district. When asked about Thaksin, Panthongtae said he has often spoken to him and there is nothing to worry about. He also said he would not enter politics despite having helped campaign for PTP candidates, adding that he only wanted to meet the people. Thaksin's wife Potjaman also went to vote, but at different polling

"He also said he would not enter politics..." How much are we going to believe? :o

could very well be possible that we soon see Panthongthae become a new player - to counter act Abhisit's Image.... just a thought or 2!

TaxSin won't give up soon, that is for certain!

Yes - no - no - Yes - yes - no - no - yes.... we know these sequences too well don't we.

It has become way too quiet!

I don't think that this is it!

No way!

Lee Kuan Yew got his son it. So did George Bush. There are also others in India, etc etc..

I am not surprise that Thaksin will get his son in. What's wrong with that?

His son's extra-curricular activities and partying are quite famous. it is unlikely the guy would enter politcs so that doesnt all become fair game. One of the daughters is more likely imho

You mean like Syria and North Korea? Singapore is a family run dictatorship in all but name, and is probably the model that Thaksin was aiming for if he had been able to stay around long enough. The second coming of the Bush name didn't exactly produce the most notable president the US has had, and the Ghandi family reunions are pretty small events despite ruling India for some length of time. I don't think any of these were caught cheating at their university exams too, something Takkie junior was guilty of, not ideal for a future PM. I'd like to think the Shinarotten empire is dead, but unfortunately I have a feeling that they haven't finished yet.

Thai court to rule on frozen assets of Thaksin's children

The Central Administrative Court will this afternoon hand down its verdict whether to release Bt12 billion held in impounded bank accounts of Panthongtae and Pinthongta, son and daughter of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

The gist of the litigation is that the Assets Examination Committee invoked the graft law to freeze the bank accounts but the Revenue Department cited the tax law to demand the funds to pay for tax liabilities.

Siam Commercial Bank is the complainant seeking the judicial review on how to comply with conflicting instructions relating to the accounts held at the bank.

@samgrowth: can't say yet, it's just the way it goes...

@hammered: well we got the the new party: "Bhum Jai Thai"!

Banned politicians such as Newin Chidchob, Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Somsak Thepsuthin, Anutin Charnvirakul, Suchart Tancharoen and Sora-at Klinpratoom showed up to openly display their support for Bhum Jai Thai. In fact, they seemed to get along very well with each other, as they occupied a sofa near the stage and swapped jokes with much merriment.

Also present at the launch were banned executives of the now-disbanded People Power Party, including Theerachai Saenkaew and Songsak Thongsri, while Deputy Finance Minister Pradit Pataraprasit appeared to offer congratulations.

Commerce Minister Pornthiva said a party leader, secretary-general and executives should be named within a month.

When asked whether Bhum Jai Thai would become a power base to push Newin or fellow banned TRT executive Somkid Jatusripitak for the prime minister's post once their five-year ban from direct involvement in politics ends, Nakhon Ratchasima MP Boonjong said no such moves were planned.

Can imagine why.... Round 4?

this period is just some cool down phase, let some time pass and the Magician, at least one of his proxies will be back on stage!

Whatever, the choices are quite a few, hope the "appealing" may not turn one day into 'appalling"

Flashback to 2002. From TRT member and Khon Kaen MP Premsak Pearyura, Chairman of the

""Most of the foreigners are small investors who take work from Thais. We should have big investors who don't negatively affect Thais," said MP Premsak.

Xenophobia always finds a willing audience. Trump is proof of that. The idea that small businesses "take jobs from Thai people". is so insane that it beggars belief.
