June 30, 20187 yr Popular Post If your girlfriend wants to start a business in her own country, she should be able to find this out by herself and don't need to rely on a foreign forum. In other words, forget about it as she isn't qualified to run a business and her friends aren't too. Don't be a walking ATM and drop the idea until she can come up with a proper business plan herself.

July 1, 20187 yr I beleive these to be pretty expensive, i've seen smallish ones for 14K ++. Thought about getting one for my man cave but not at those prices...
July 1, 20187 yr Author I beleive these to be pretty expensive, i've seen smallish ones for 14K ++. Thought about getting one for my man cave but not at those prices...yup. thats why I'm looking for a second hand one. i cannot see the point in her spending at least 14k on a fridge when the venture has a great likelihood of failing. July 1, 20187 yr Author Makro in bkk has every size you could imagine yes. looked at makro and a lot of the other shops. plenty to chose from. 2nd hand is my own preference though to save some moneySent from my SM-N950F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
July 1, 20187 yr Theres a second hand shop on the Banchang bypass road, if you turn left off sukhumvit at Baddog nightclub (formerly mouth to mouth), about 150m down on the left, they often have single, double and triple drinks fridges, they also have shelves, tables etc. handy place for that sort of stuff.

Sent from my SM-N950F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app I know what you mean but time is money too if you want to get started.... Also I think makro will deliver it for free (location dependant) which saves a bit of hassle if you don't have to get a truck to go and do the hauling yourself
July 1, 20187 yr a used one may consume double the energy....also, if they are operated in a hot room, or turned off at night, chances are there is excessive wear on the compressor. Best beers come out of those coffin coolers...with ice delivery.

Very true, a used older one will not be power efficient The best beers are kept at a consistent temperature from brewery to consumption In Thailand you can forget about that, they probably get cooked in the back of a warehouse in the midday sun, and then loaded into trucks to go to wholesalers who take delivery and supply the supermarkets and they might go through the hot /cold cycle several times before they get to the end user
July 1, 20187 yr There is also a shop in Ban Chang called Thanatawat, can buy new there and pay monthly.

Some nitwits think nothing of letting them freeze....makes them taste flat.
July 1, 20187 yr Another option is to buy an open top freezer and fit an Elitech temperature controller, you can set your freezer to any temp you want. It's what I use, they are really reliable and if your business fails you still have your freezer. Here's a picture of the controller, they are about 1000baht ready to go.

I would be surprised if temp is so critical for his GFs food shop in Ban Chang............but i may be wrong?

Interesting idea but I wonder about condensation and extreme cold spots. Maybe racks or trays to avoid contact with cold spots but not sure about condensation.

Yes you are wrong, if you buy a freezer, which is the cheapest option, by definition they freeze, so you need something that will regulate at a higher temp.

They all have drain off holes built in to the device which will drain off any water that accumalates in the freezer, they work via a probe on the end of a cable which can be positioned anywhere you desire in the freezer.
July 1, 20187 yr My point is where it’s being sold and too who.I really doubt any customers will complain if it come out a bucket of ice or a sooper dooper temp controlled machine. It will be poured into a glass with ice anyway - lolSent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect
July 1, 20187 yr Author the temp control device is a nice idea. i have s similar item already i used for heating /cooling power controls in hydroponics. no idea if it goes as low as 3c but will try it i think as i know she already has a chest freezer Sent from my SM-N950F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

My freezer has no drain off holes so any build up of condensation would puddle in the bottom. My fridge on the other hand which operates at around +5 has condensation drain.

At the end of the day he has two choices, a drinks cabinet which is expensive and if his business goes t!ts up will be no use to man or beast. Or a freezer which can be used for anything you desire, they are cheap to buy and will always be of use, business or no business.

You will always find a freezer usefull, but a drinks cabinet?

With all due respect he’s asking what will help his girlfriends ‘potential’ customers. My point is he could use a bucket of ice to keep these ‘potential’ customers beer cold thus saving the expensive purchase. If these customers then complain about the temp the beer is getting served at ( highly highly unlikely ) then maybe then he could consider the expensive purchase.Up to him ^_^Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Can you not see the flexability of a device that you can regulate from -18 to +40, you are in charge. If you cannot see this, I am sorry I have tried to explain the best I can.

I am not going to argue with someone who knows it all, so good bye.
