There's a thought, and another one - why the tourism minister?

Further, still no visit or comment from the national police chief.

Did he have a work permit?

The "Royal Guests" thing probably trumps any pompous local officials wanting to make a case out of it.

Well at least they did not give him the usual escort to swampy for the over stayers and those without work permits...

What an horses ass!

Thank you for your humour.

I think a bit of humour around now is a good thing. But definitely not intended to make light of the ongoing efforts...

It’s marvelous really how there’s been such international support. The Brits won the day of course, quietly, efficiently, humbly and with great dignity, but hats off to all the other nations that sent in teams to help.

Special mention should go to the Americans who sent in 17 Navy SEALS and no lesser rank than a Rear Admiral to lead the charge. What happened to them? They were cheered by US expat supporters on ThaiVisa who fully expected them to take control and manage the entire show, but their role was to fill the oxygen tanks as they had brought special equipment to turn the knobs that had got stuck and nobody else could twist them. The admiral was introduced to the Thai powers as the chief and they asked him if he could cook something up for the Thai SEALS too. Great team effort I say. Couldn’t have done it without you!

And what about the Irish Parachute Regiment? The Irish got wind of the potential disaster a little late in the game but on reading that a football team and coach were likely stranded on Pattaya Beach they studied all the maps carefully and determined that they had the skills to get there with ease. Indeed Paddy Murphy, the squad leader, said he had actually been there two years ago and knew the terrain! After landing the four man squad from a helicopter three nights ago they began tunneling immediately. They were last seen very early this morning climbing out of a hole in Jomtien, patting each other on the back and jubilantly questioning an incoherent group of fully kitted out young England supporters who were still out celebrating the World Cup win against Colombia.

Obviously, it seems apparent to me that with the lack of attendance that the Thai PM and members of the Royal court have displayed, the interest in this matter is very casual indeed. It was a good photo-op for all the big-wigs but alas who can understand these people. Why try????

I think he'll meet the Thai Seals, so that it's remembered as a Thai success, while he's at the helm.

He should have received personal accolades from The Royals as well as the PM. If not for him this fiasco could have well been a tragedy. GOD BLESS YOU SIR

I thought that it was pretty decent of the Thai officials to do this. Robert Harper doesn't do the voluntary work for money or recognition, he does it because he's a decent human being and I suspect he enjoys the technical challenge posed ... we all salute you Mr Harper!

Let's hope the kids all get out safely and soon.

Very well said

Those infamous watches are not making any noise these days.

Maybe a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

Tic tock tic tock.
