Hi, after some advice. I currently have a visa based on retirement which I extended to the 4th of

December 2018 ( original expiry was January but I re- entered Thailand). I have a pension and have read that the Australian embassy will issue a document to present to immigration. I will be visiting the embassy in Bangkok for another purpose in the first week of August this year. If I get the document to show my pension at that time will it be accepted by immigration when I go to extend my visa in November, being 3 months after it was issued ?

thanks in advance for any advice

The immigration office should accept a pension letter as long as it’s dated within 6 months.

The retirement extension doesn't éxpire' on leaving or re-entering the country.

Permission to say does expire on exit - but for a multi entry visa a new entry gets a new permission to stay date - which appears to be what he is saying in my reading.

Am I correct in thinking that as I will be exiting Thailand in November, I will have to obtain a permit to re-enter so as to keep my extended visa valid ?

You will need a re-entry permit to keep your current permit to stay valid when you enter the country.

You get the Re-entry permit from the immigration office (not Australian embassy) that issued your extension of stay (best option), OR at the airport on the way out of the country.

You do a statutory declaration for your income.
