I walk up and down Soi Six sometimes weeks at a time and everything is fine. by the way, where is the beach? Walk West-ish, follow your nose toward the smell of low tide and gasoline fumes. Be careful crossing Beach Rd. Dodge the Ladyboys, buy some weed and Viagra, mind the vendor umbrella spokes at eye level, and there you are. European Paradise Lost and Found. Lovely Jubbly! TonyClifton
When I first came to Jomtien in 2001 the beach was clean. The water didn't look like Koh Samet but you could swim in it. At least there is no more simulated sex at the pools. That makes me warm and fuzzy in my special place.

I would also add the 200 mile long beach of the Atlantic coast of France, north of Biarritz, as my personal favourite. Even Bournemouth beach in England. puipuitom
Ever met an Asian, who gives a damn for the environment ? Everything at arms lenght away does not disturb them. See all rubbish around. My son was hotel manager at Koh Samui. Hotel with a US$ 700 per night, so… wise to have a clean beach, no rubbish, and especially NO GLASS. Tried to explain that to his staff and clean up the area. IMPOSSIBLE. Better hire in apes...

Visits me for a week, other stuff, and bookends the holiday with 4-5 days at the beginning & end with, yep, Pattaya. He loves the place, has a great time, but he never sees the beach... In a way, the powers that be are basically trying to put lipstick on a pig if they think Pattaya will be regarded by discerning tourists as a classy paradise destination. It is indeed a popular destination and that word also ends in **ssy paradise.
