Good, stay in Panama, it's about as far away from Thailand as you can get.Funny that you still find the need to post on a Thai forum though.

LOL> Not far off...  the antipodal coordinates for Pattaya are just off the coast of Peru.

"never been to Canada , so I cannot comment" ...... You aren't missing anything in the women department by not having been to Canada unless you are into overweight, or even obesity. And if they're eye candy, it will be accompanied by attitude. But we do have lots of great looking Asians here. The downside is that they have adopted Western values and attitudes.

Thailand rules for great looking women!

Yes, it's a real downside for them that they don't have to slave for 20,000 baht a month for equally obese and sweaty old foreigners in Thailand.

And just to clarify, Canada is not my birth country. Like many, I immigrated there from crap country, moved to a first world country then I started wondering why I would move to another third world country.

As a typical Westerner growing up in a "nanny state" many of you don't know how good you have it. After all it's the "nanny state" that enabled you to live a somewhat luxurious life in Thailand while taking advantage of high (for now) exchange rates and low cost of living (again - for now).

OP. Maybe you just picked the wrong place in Thailand for you to be. I know I have found my "right place" and if I get bored I'll try a new.

Where I live I feel pretty young and I'm over 50. many old ladies and gentlemen in the are that is 70+, not that many "Farang" but I meet a few every week. Its easy to make a few friends of you are open for it. Prices has not gone up a lot in 6 years.

Stay on Retirement-visa, or o-visa if you get married, there will be no visa runs, If the steak is not good enough for you, cook your own food and buy the ingredients in a fresh market. Cheap, and very fresh. (Not like Big-C or very expensive VillaMarket) And the air is really good in many places around Thailand if you go outside Bangkok and big cities.

And don't compare yourself with young multi-millionares that buy expensive condos if you are not one of them.

Thailand is so much more than a tiny box in the sky.

But in Toronto, that tiny box in the sky has a great view. Here's how it works. You buy the condo today, you've been sold on the great view, maybe even one of the serene sail boats on the lake (frozen shoreline for half the year). A year after purchase, big noisy machines arrive to start a new building, earth is broken on this postage-size space, you don't look forward to enduring years of noise and construction dust. A new condo building springs up, but damn it, that view is gone; you now have a view of all that glass but no sail boats.

Enjoy your tiny box in the sky.

Hello Thailand!

"Nanny state" is correct, a license for this, a permit for that, and taxes being applied to both "this and that".

But I do agree, nanny state afforded many of us the opportunity to escape to that tropical paradise known as LOS. No more nanny state for me, where soon you'll get arrested for passing gas in public.

Hello Thailand!

Are you sure you are not mixing up Thailand with Canada here?

You know... in Canada there are actual zoning laws. If you buy a condo that may block your view in the future it's your own fault as it's pretty much well known in advance where developers will be "developing".

And seriously.... a view in Thailand? Of what? You can purchase... is it Icon Siam for 20 million dollars and have a view of one of the dirtiest most polluted rivers in the universe.

And speaking of "tiny" boxes in Toronto, I haven't seen one that comes "standard" at 21sqm.

lolz

And you can stay there as long as you like without a visa of any sort ?

Tourist visa: The tourist visa you get when you come into Panama gives you 180 days in the country. This visa is for Americans, Canadians and citizens of the European Community and some other counties. After 180 days, you must leave Panama and and return to your own country for a period of not more than 30 days.

you can easily get a Panama retirement visa irrespective of your age.

Hmm, not so much nanny state. I think police state may be a better term.

why because they are checking on foreigners? their country, their rules, the definition of police state depends on what your politics are.

I could call the EU nations Police States quite convincingly.

You opened my eyes: For years, I have been pretending that I come to Thailand for the temples, the hot/humid climate, the murderous traffic, air pollution, polluted beaches and the soi dogs. I was fooling myself!

Your post gave me the courage to "out myself":

I ONLY COME HERE FOR THE GIRLS. Of course, this makes me a male chauvinist pig.
Thankfully, I will soon be able to make amends, by giving liberal donations to the local temples. Furthermore, as I still have some whips and chains in the basement, I shall immediately start with a program of self-flagellation.
Cheers.

why is that outing? You could go to Cambo or Laos or Phillips for hot cheap babes, but they all suck as bad as Canada ?

Not sure how being a sex tourist translates into 'male chauvinist pig' do you feel superior to women because you shag a few? Is this an affliction you feel may have driven the OP to Canada?

The video in post # 80 is very true. I am a Canadian and have been spending 6 months in Thailand and 6 months in Canada for many years but am now starting to consider staying in Thailand permanently. I love Canada but since Jihad Justine Trudope was elected he is finishing what Pierre Trudeau started, destroying Canada. He is giving away Billions of dollars to countries that want to kill us, welcoming illegal economic refugee border crossers with open arms giving them free housing, medical, money and destroying anything that points out our past. All he has done since elected is dance in every gay pride parade, openly invite refugees into Canada for the free benifets while denying any increase in benifets to veterans or seniors that built this country and trying to turn Canada into another Muslim caliphate and impliment Sharia law which is funny because they throw people of his persuasion off rooftops. If one of our neglected vets don't take him out or he gets re-elected then as I love Canada sad to say I think I will have to stay in Thailand as I don't wish to live in Canastan

You can choose to watch other guys having the young girls or you can be the one others are watching. In the end it's your choice. I'm 48 and would never return to Sweden for any reason.

If I wanna watch other guys having sex with young girls, I'll log in to and support Canadian owned PornHub.

He didn't say "having sex" though did he, he said having the young girls, but you knew what he meant didn't you?

Mate, I've been here nearly 9 years and no one I know has a problem with immigration. Of course there will always be exceptions but they are in the minority. If you just come here to badmouth Thailand, you aren't welcome, it's quite fortunate you don't like Thailand.

Outside of "Thailand-News" the "Visa-Forum" has the most threads (questions). There must be a reason for that. What could it be? The unproblematic visa situation, or just posters trying to keep "Ubon-Joe" busy?

Exchange-Rates and Inflation with emphasis on "for now". Exchange-Rates are transparent, but officially published Inflation-Rates are a joke.
- Those 2 factors may throw a "monkey-wrench" into some well calculated Retirement-Plans.

There are almost 200 Countries on this globe. Most of them are not "Democracies".  Travel around in "Non-Democratic" countries and see how you like it. Upon return, you will likely kiss the ground of any country within the EU, as soon as you disembark from the airplane.

Be careful what you wish for.

What is a rich elderly life in Thailand? What gives your life quality?

I guess thats what you have to ask.

I do not Care if satelite tv or wine is more expensive in Thailand than home, for me it is the possibillity to live healthy and have a good life that matters.
