Boozy Brit tourist ignores 'do not touch' warnings at souvenir stall and ends up in Thai hellhole jail

Waleed Bradley puts the whole ordeal down to bad karma, remembering how he put giant MnMs in the ears of a Buddha statue

By Gerard du Cann

Waleed Bradley once crashed his new Porsche during a night out

FOUR hours before his flight home from Thailand, Belfast lad Waleed Bradley found himself sitting in a cell, facing four months in jail.

It was all because he ignored a 'do not touch' sign, and hid a crocodile skull at a local market while drunk the night before.

He told 5Star's Young, Dumb and Banged Up in the Sun about the squalid conditions. “The walls smelt like faeces. It was real grim. Within about 10 minutes I was crying."

He found himself wondering if he would end up having to eat raw cockroaches, and decided to do some press-ups – in case he had to fight off his fellow prisoners. “At this point I was told I would be doing four days minimum in that cell."

£3,500 for a shitty crocodile skull? Well he was surely ripped off, but if you do stupid things, you shouldn't be surprised when bad things happen.

Bradley was made to pose with the shopkeeper and crocodile skull for a photograph.

That ought to teach him not to mess with her skull again.

I frequently find it amazing how many chances people take with the laws here. There are billboards up all over Thailand warning tourists about respect for Buddha statues. Petty crime is not treated as petty, in Thailand.

Beer Chang has not been in brown bottles for how long?

Yes ,I'm sure a couple of Israeli girls lent a guy of Arab descent £3500!

Complete BS from start to finish. Probably had to pay 3500 baht to get out of jail.

No it wasn’t karma. Don’t bring mythology into this to explain away this incident.

It was a pattern of behaviour that was eventually going to catch up with you.

You are an arrogant, self-entitled, brain dead moron.

That is why you got into trouble.

It is very hard to image now but when the O'Waleeds and the MacAbdullahs went up against each other in the Battle of Falafel (Co,Antrim,1364) it was a turgid affair indeed..

Not to be taken lightly.

If he was born in Ireland, or he has an Irish passport, he is Irish.

His name is an irrelevance

Belfast is in England then.

Well, well, well, who knew eh?

As to the rest of your post...

I think he has a British passport - Waleed is a Brit, regardless of what the gammon faced racists may say.

As to the rest of your post...

There is a certain subset of English Britons who seem to think that England and the UK are synonyms, and that the other home nations are subservient to England. Thankfully, like mosquitoes they are small, but incredibly annoying.

Even our MPs are at it - last week Bernard Jenkin, MP for Harwich and North Essex complained about Scottish and Irish objections to Brexit, pointing out that  " ...the last time Ireland [sic] voted, they wanted to be part of the United Kingdom – and the same goes for Scotland, we let them vote in our referendum.”

Is Lacoste now interested in buying the rest of the croc?

"If he could find £8000, he would be let go."    (340,815. THB)

It's wise to spend as much time on an exit strategy  as it is on how to get there.

He is (unfortunately) from Belfast which is in Northern Ireland and for the time being part of the UK, so why do you think he has an Irish passport?

Ireland is Ireland.

Many of those in the North have Irish passports.

But my post was aimed at the casual prejudice contained in the post I quoted.

Fully accept this guy is British.

British passport and his name would be very relevant to the 2 Israeli girls he allegedly borrowed £3500 from.

We pay for your stories! Do you have a story for The Sun Online news team?

Wonder if they paid enough for this story to cover the 3,500 pound skull?
