webfact
Thousands of motorists could face ultimate arrest for not paying lane changing fines Picture: Daily News In the first four months of cameras monitoring 15 places in Bangkok for illegal lane changing 160,000 tickets have been issued. But only 14,086 paid fines after the initial warning. Now after the system was introduced in early May there are still 70,000 outstanding fines. Deputy chief of traffic in Bangkok Pol Col Kitti Ariyanon explained the long process that could ultimately see those who continue to ignore the fines actually being arrested. First off the Department of Land Transport (DLT) is contacted through the PTM system so that fines are paid when the motorist renews their vehicle tax. If owners don't turn up to do that a letter is sent to tell them to pay the fine at the police station and receive a temporary extension of tax. If that fails a summons is issued. If that is ignored then an arrest warrant can follow. Source: Daily News -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-09-05
Popular Post ezzra
There are many millions of unpaid fines stretching back ions, i know i have a few from years ago, ( in Rome, do as the romans do right?) and the police threat to issue arrest warrants to 150,000 so far and growing, is just a scare mongering just like all the other empty threats of years or yore...

What ever next! There is little point in issuing these tickets if the police are not going to be follow up with summons and arrests if the fines aren't paid.
Popular Post sweatalot
again - the Thai will make clear they don't want to pay fines and they don't like to be arrested. and then plan cancelled. (at least before the elections) Same as the try to fine those who don't carry their driving license.

Yeah, you're right. Why should we take responsibility and pay our fines? Screw the rules.
RotMahKid
Don't pay them, there will be so many at the end that the "prime minister" will all give them a general pardon for it, just a fake law and long live the election. All she said is that her car is not very good looking?

luk AJ
On the highway Cheang Whattana - Bangkok and also coming from Suvarnabhumi they recently painted full white lines at certain locations. I still try to figure out how drivers can take the exit without crossing these lines...Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

The only thing that Will work is Get the vehicle Impounded and give it back After they Pay all the Fines + a fine for the payment of the fines being overdue. Autonuaq
They will make it (soon) easier too, just withdraw it from the bank account or as have seen collected at the worked place by confiscating the wages. Just a matter of time that this will be implemented Or the cut you off from electricity water and other goverment services untill you have paid. amdy2206
Good - it will mean slightly less inconsiderate drivers on the roads. I just hope they carry out the threats and actually do something for a change.
