Bang Lamung district chief Naris Niramaiwong sent in his men after complaints that pool villas in a  Huay Yai estate were being rented on a daily basis for noisy parties.

Ads for the properties owned by De Ville Group were on Facebook contravening hotel regulations.

A sting was conducted at one of four properties. The 3,900 fee had been paid and once Wirawan Janlert, 36, opened the house they were busted. The money used had been photocopied to ensure everything was done properly.

As a bonus in another property there were ten young people having a noisy party.

Five tested positive for drugs - four women and one man - and were taken in.

Panupol Thumporn, 28, was charged with operating a hotel without permission and incorrect use of a premises.

We Love Pattaya reported that the company had been ordered to stop renting the villas in August but this had been ignored.

They do seem to go over the top with these drug tests. Maybe the keystones get some perverse pleasure from piss testing these tarts?
Just get them to keep the noise down so they are not annoying others and leave them alone to have some fun, who is being harmed here?
I think this is Thailand only. In no other country if the cops are called the party guests will have to do such bizarre things if no evidence of drug use is visible.
They might check the age for underage drinking and ask them to turn down the music but that's all.
Btw I don't know exactly the laws in Thailand regarding drug use but in many countries the use is not punishable just possession.
Just imagine you come from Amsterdam, Canada or some US states to Thailand and you get tested positive for THC.
What can you do then?

think they're all thais, where should they move onto?

Not true, many are not Thai.

And some are Thai and some will want a scenario where they can do as they want regardless of laws and social attitudes.

However considering this is Thailand surely there's a case to say the overall opinion of the locals is supreme and I suggest (repeat suggest) many want drug usage and availability (whatever you call drugs) to be strongly reduced and brought under control.

In the last few days / weeks there have been many couriers / distributors caught transporting millions of pills and kilos of ice across Thailand. Is it not surprising this frightens folks with teenage kids?

There are scenes of pool parties with participants, and it seems many are consuming drugs. What's very possible is that they have little kids inside the house. Is this an appropriate scenario for kids? Would you bring up kids in such a scenario?

can do. i can only comment on my experiences but yes there is a huge crackdown and ice and yabba and rightly so and i suspect that's what the kids were doing in the op and also a charger for many a sick or twisted crime. do the general local population who you think are supreme think that all drugs are bad. no, not in experience anyway. around my mrs home town ganja is very big and a large number of people, police included seem to rather they were smoking weed as they generally don't go out and get into drunken fights with other groups or smash themselves up in cars and bikes. that's not to say it isn't illegal or to say many aren't against it and if caught they might pay a fine but the supreme people and police don't seem to look for it much anymore or care. that's my experience anyway. of course any person in the world who isn't insane would want ice and yabba eradicated.

Not only recreational drugs, many prescription and over the counter medicines are illegal here, the list is quite extensive and if you get tested you will fail and be charged.
For example a simple OTC painkiller such as co-codamol.
Or when you did eat some poppy seeds

Not enough money stolen from foreigners driving around Pattaya ? (drug tests at many locations)

I wonder what will happen if you refuse a quick test and insist on a blood test..?

If they really want your money they will bring you to hospital, but then, having an official document against you, and after you created problems, if you are positive, not sure that they would let you go for 5000 thb...

So if you are positive give them 5000 on the spot and go home...

And you'll get a receipt for the fine on the spot? Otherwise it's a bribe scam.
Curious to know about the passage in the law about the difference between drug consumption and drug possession.
Like I already said, in many countries the consumption or prove of that is not illegal.

Is there no right of privacy in LoS if the cops just go in mob handed??

If they had kept quiet then they probably would have been ok, same as these petty gambling busts for B120, its more to do with the noise they are making.

Don't draw attention to yourself, I guess the neighbors were pissed off

We had the same kind of parties every week on Saudi on our compound. Its sad how upright Thailand has become. Sadder still the uptight expats who come here now. The parties were weekend affairs so not really a noise issue. Just killjoys and spoilsports at work to say nothin of snitches touts, dobbers and grasses. I remember a few years ago in Salford the local 'boys' drove a van round with the photographs of such rats with their addresses.  Being ratted out works both ways was their message.

Too right the system is iniquitous, medieval and corrupt.  But they are following The USA and UNs idiotic policies.

Its part of generating a reign of fear, corruption and extortion.
