As best as I can tell here, a life sentence often doesn't end up meaning actual life in prison, due to various sentence reductions handed out by Corrections Dept. admins, and the invariable eventual royal pardons that get handed down in ensuing years.

I was not clear. Should have been death for him and life for her. He gets off too easy and should cease to exist. They had the penalty right the first time.
