Good morning,

I am looking for the doctor and affordable hospitals for the treatment.

thank you.

Expect best source for answer is traveling at moment but you will likely get a reply from Sheryl today or tomorrow.  Sorry can not be of help as my removed Thyroid proved not to be cancer (have had enough others to make up for it).  Government hospitals are always the most affordable (but not always the best choice when time is a major factor) but there are a few private hospitals with good facilities/doctors at reasonable price (normally church affiliated).

Rajavithi Hospital has a center for head and neck cancers and would be the most affordable option with good care. Note that most affordable will mean the least convenient - this is a government hospital and a large one so there will be a lot of red tape, long waits, and language barriers (not with the doctors, but with pretty much everyone else).  You need to have a Thai speaker go with you the first time at least to help navigate your way through.

They have what is called a "Extra General Surgery Clinic" from 4 - 8 PM where you can meet the senior doctors directly (otherwise you meet interns and residents under their supervision) and a bot less crowded (but still plenty of people).  Try to meet one of these doctors there:

Prof. Tatsanachat Jittreetat

Prof. Davin Yavapolkul

These are surgeons specialiizing in head and neck cancers including thyroid. They will likely refer you to a radiologist for radioactive iodine treatment but start with them as they will know whom to refer to and help coordinate your care.

You can also see Prof. Tatsanachat Jittreetat at the following private hospitals.:

Bangkok Hospital  https://www.bangkokhospital.com/index.php/en/find-a-doctor/doctor-profile/?id=3494&doctor=Dr._TATSANACHAT_JITTREETAT

Praram 9 Hospital  https://www.praram9.com/doctor.php?page=5&fname=&lname=&specialities=

Phyathai 2 Hospital https://www.phyathai.com/doctor_detail/68267/DR.TATSANACHAT JITTREETAT

These are much, much easier to deal with/convenient but also cost much more. Of the 3, Bangkok Hospital will cost more than the other 2.

Even at a government hospital, this treatment is going to be costly.  Have you considered going back to your home country for it?

Hi Sheryl, thanks for your reply. first time i am thinking about to get medications in my home country but i have another reasons to get it in Bangkok. my husband works here and my kids study here also. it will be a big change for my kids if i take them and move back to home country since they are still can't understand what kind of health problems that their mom have now.

i have been talking to 1 doctor in National Cancer Institute Singapore, sent him my medical record and he suggest me to get hemithyrodectomy and 3 weeks post op can get RAI treatment. to eliminate high cost for travelling to singapore, i preffer to get it in Bangkok.

what do you think Sheryl? do you have any suggestion for me?

thank you ka ????

Yes, I was also thinking more extensive removal of thyroid might be indicated before moving on the RAI. See the doctors I mentioned and discuss with them.

Both of the doctors I mentioned are at Bangkok Hospital as well as at Rajathiwi. If yo ucan afford private treatment, seeing them at Bangkok Hospital will be far easier and more convenient. But it will cost more (though not as much as going to Singapore!).
