BANGKOK, 15th October 2018 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has asked that citizens read and understand the 20 Year National Strategy, promulgated in the Royal Gazette this past weekend, saying it is important for sustainable development and assuring citizens it is not a mechanism for his government to retain power. 

Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Lt Gen Sansern Kaeokamnerd today disclosed that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha wants all citizens to study and understand the strategy, the first of its kind. The PM believes that when put into practice, the sufficiency economy philosophy based plan will lead to national development. 

Gen Prayut remarked that the first five years of the plan, starting now, will be the most crucial and that while the successive governments should follow the strategy it can adjust details based on circumstances. For the public the strategy will seek to improve the circumstances of citizens of all ages and foster equality as well as participation in governance.

 

For the private sector, the strategy can be used for business plans as it was also designed to help Thailand escape the middle income trap. The six aspects covered by the strategy are security, competitiveness, human resource development, social equality, environmentally-sound life quality enhancement and administration. 

The PM assured the people he does not intend to maintain power and that the strategy is just a master plan for government ministries so that they can effectively plan budgets. It also sets up an evaluation process to be carried out by the National Strategy Commission and the National Reform Committee.

The very fact he has to assure folk of that is indicative of a inner belief on his part that , that is just how some will see it .. And Master plan .! Is that a superior version of a cunning plan ..

SB's rule of Thai politics is anytime a Thai government official specifically denies something, it IS definitely, 100% true.

 

When Prayut says "it is not a mechanism for his government to retain power..", bet your life-savings that it is a mechanism for his government to retain power.

Perhaps he should stop his whining and put it to a vote.  His constant pleading for trust and understanding, over the last four years, is way beyond tedious.  Be a man and put it to a vote.
