BANGKOK, 25th October 2018, (NNT) - The Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs has instructed officials of the Education Ministry to make sure that the examination dates of the General Aptitude Test (GAT) - Professional Aptitude Test (PAT) are not on the same day as the general election.

According to Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, the instruction is to ensure that young voters can exercise their rights without having to worry about the exam.

Currently, the examination dates for the two tests are set for February 23rd - 26th next year. The general election day will likely be February 24th. There are about six million eligible student voters in the kingdom.

General Prawit reiterated that the date for the general election would not be postponed.

The Deputy Prime Minister also touched on meetings between representatives of political parties and the public, saying that he will leave the matter to the Election Commission (EC) to decide whether or not these meetings would be considered election campaign activities.

General Prawit declined to comment on Ruam Palang Prachachart Thai Party's rally to recruit members, saying the EC will be the one deciding the legality of political activities.

Marvelous idea that one. Delay an election for four years, then set it on the dates when exams are going on, and then tell the schools they can't allow it to clash. Maybe they should have checked their calendar before setting the "provisional" election date to avoid stuff like this from the word go. Though that might require some thinking of course.

Why would that be the case?

Anyone old enough to vote can cope with both things.

This man clearly knows nothing about young adults and education.

Or...this was the plan with the hope no one would say anything until they could claim it was too late to make a change. The people disenfranchised are likely to be more educated and vote against the Toad and his cronies.

You're allowing them much too much credit towards any such foresight that they probably will never acquire.

Your right...not sure what I was thinking. Thanks for getting me coherent again. My bad.

Brilliant plot to eliminate the dissedent students from voting. Next up move the elections to 2AM Friday night with an alco test.

The election date has been postponed so many times.... Hardly seems sacrosanct.
