Warong Dechgitvigrom, a candidate in  the Democrat Party’s leadership race, said if he becomes the party leader, he will replace the party’s liberal democracy ideology with a new concept of “welfare democratic society”.

Speaking at his vision presentation as a candidate for the election of the party’s leader, he said he doesn’t support the liberal democracy concept because it was proven to have adversely led to monopolies and disparity in wealth.

The party’s popularity is in decline due to its reputation of being too conservative, said Thaworn Senneam, a veteran politician from Songkhla, who has been drumming up support for  Warong.

Democracy in Thailand needs to be on steroids, not welfare.

The Democrat Party already received welfare democracy in 2007 when Thaksin's TRT, Thaksin and  some 110 party officials were barred from politics, allowing Democrats to win the next election without a major opposition party.

Democrats need to oppose welfare democracy, not promote it.

...and nowhere in that press release are either the term "liberal democracy ideology" as opposed to a "welfare democratic society" described, compared or contrasted.   Just a ration of mealy-mouth, politicized mumbo-jumbo meant to draw votes imho.  Mention 'welfare' and the plebes will think they're getting a hand out.
