Rangsiman Rome, a former pro-democracy movement leader, registers Saturday as a member of the Future Forward Party.

BANGKOK — One of Thailand’s most prominent pro-democracy activists is putting down his bullhorn and taking up mainstream politics.

Rangsiman Rome, one of the most visible faces among anti-coup and pro-election protesters, said Monday he will abandon street protests to join a new progressive party because he believes civilian politics needs help.

Yes, now he got the attention he wanted, to be able to secure a top level political position without any knowledge about it. Great work! It just proves that Rome wasn´t buildt in a day.

How is being a single member of one of many political parties contesting a rigged election against them a "top level political position", exactly?

The man has balls and I for one salute him.

Yeah.....kudos extended.

Seems as the more well-known intelligent activists [there are many] are somewhat jumping on the FFP bandwagon, in lieu of the standing "red" tradition - a base philosophy [TP origins] that they never truly felt akin with.

Interesting to note, there are a number of independent grassroots-type political parties, that receive little attention, presently that somewhat meld philosophically along the FFP dogma. The true popularity of these movements is quite astounding - if one is paying attention.

The offering of Pheu Thai and Democrat Parties are dismissed by a significant number of the population, as they're considered to be in bed with the ruling military statutory - as the few mainstream political associations seem to be.

There are strong movements afoot that extend no loyalty to the supposedly opposing alternatives.

The theatre continues on.

Yes, we are! A resistance man that fights for real democracy, and later joins a party that once again has been founded by one of the billionaires in Thailand.

I do not call that a chance for democracy, but a vey good chance for demo"crazy" again.

Seems like a natural fit.  Hope he, they are successful for the sake of Thailand.

Yes, what can a man that says he´s fighting for real democracy have in common with a billionarie from Thailands upper elite? Not sound so natural no more?

May I quote Shakespeare?  Politics makes strange bedfellows. Political interests can bring together people who otherwise have little in common. This saying is adapted from a line in the play The Tempest , by William Shakespeare: “Misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows.”

True today true centuries ago.

Okey, so let me look at this.
Are you referring to that we should go back to the way of thinking and living as it was in the early 1600´s?
Another aspect of this might be that you refer to that men of misery might be more happy with a choice of a woman type 2? :cheesy:

What is it?

Voltaire, Shakespeare, founding fathers of the United States

Yep, and today you can clearly see the result of what they created.

People that vote for a mad man as a president.

Gun lovers with an idiotic mindset.

Fatness in the population that has a bigger reach than doctors without borders.

Creation of a lousy affidavit that people finally found out ain´t worth the paper it´s written on.

A onstitution that an be en from so many aspects that there is never a possibility to eate any real laws.

Yeah, I know. It sounds like the system here too at the moment, but wait and see until a party like Future Forward gets successful.

Freedom is tumultuous and so is a police state.  I'd rather be free.   These minds helped create the modern day world that sends vast size digital signals through the air, electric cars that will one day transport the world, and rockets that explore the next unknown.  They gave us something we have squandered.

Your examples, except for fat, do not reflect most Americans, and the system does contain Mr. Trump.  Is the system shown the respect it deserves?  Not really.
