Pattaya station chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch and head of the tourist force in the city Lt Col Piyapong Ensarn announced the quick arrest of a repairman who stole from a Chinese tourist's room.

Wicharn or "Toi", 34, from Petchabun, was caught in possession of 5,460 baht in various notes, a bag and a motorcycle used in the crime.

His arrest stemmed from Friday afternoon when Mr Li Ping, 53, arrived in the condominium on Beach 2 Road. He put his valuable in the safe and went out only to return to find that someone had rifled through his possessions.

Cash in baht and yuan and other items worth a total of 30,000 were missing.

CCTV soon led to Wicharn. The juristic person told Sanook that he did odd jobs for condo owners and was often in the building.

He was charged with theft from a property.

It,s quite normal for an "odd job man" to carry out the odd job now and again

What is amazing to me is that they even investigated this crime. It was a relatively small amount of money and goods.

Oftentimes it seems to be difficult getting the police to investigate serious crimes like rapes or murders.

Perhaps it was because it was a Chinese tourist?
