PHUKET: The annual Phuket Carnival to mark the start of the tourism high season began in Patong last night (Nov 1) with the colourful parade throughout Phuket’s busiest tourism town.

As is tradition, the carnival kicked off with the annual parade, which coursed its way through the town and along the beachfront road. Thousands of people lined the streets to enjoy the hundreds of colourful costumes and floats as the parade passed by.

The parade concluded at Loma Park on the Patong beachfront, which will serve as the centre of festivities for the next five days.

Parades are fun and I dont want to perverbally p on it but between 21.00 and 22.00 last night there was more people taking pics of the mega traffic jam on beach rd than the parade offerings.

With 2.5 Klms of beach to go at? and a decision is made to totally block the main route out of patong (owing to the silly one way system that causes regular congestion) The contribution to greenhouse gasses last night and tourist amazement of <deleted>?? was an amazing feat

Normally bikes could have escaped the caos along the actual beach prom but then that was blocked off with all the temp stalls set up to earn the extra bahts
