The carcass of a dolphin was found on the Chalathat Beach in Songkhla’s Muang district Sunday evening, an official said.

Santi Nilawat, an academic based at the Songkhla-based marine and coastal resources research and development centre, said the carcass was found at 5pm near the Samira Cape.

The carcass had been washed ashore by the waves. Small plastic ropes were seen among its intestines.

The carcass was taken to the research centre’s lab for a post-mortem.

Santi said it was a bottleneck dolphin about one year old and measuring some 1.5-metres in length. Its condition suggested that it had been dead for several days.

I can't believe there's any left to die. Most are killed by illegal fishing nets being dragged at depth for all to see killing everything in their path.

Expect a lot more marine corpses to wash up on beaches around the world... just the tip of a very large problem with marine pollution!

The powers to be thought it would remain an un-seen issue but now it's rearing the ugly side of poor refuse management or worse illegal dumping !

Probably been up in the lakes behind Songkhla....there are that many fish traps there, it wouldnt be able to swim in a straight line for more than 10mtrs. Got entangled and drowned...yep drowned, and washed out with all the other rubbish through the rock walls....

Though everything seems a "bottleneck" here...it's a Bottlenose Dolphin. Too bad. ????

Got pics of some healthy "beakless" Irrawaddy Dolphins a few weeks ago...
