Popular Post scotinsiam
I flew into Suvarnhabhumi yesterday late afternoon, Immigration was very good as it was when I left a week ago. I think I was processed in under a minute both times and little to no queues. I have a Multi-Entry Retirement extension and I own my condo (5 years) but with all the varied reports I decided to go to Immigration today and check on whether or not they wanted a TM30 from me. I asked 2 different officers and was told that as my address has not changed I do not need a TM30 to be completed. Happy days ???? 2
moonseeker
They seem not to require, only if address changes, if you are on a retirement extension. Been like this almost a year now. MS>

Grusa
My wife and I are both on retirement extensions, and we have lived at the same address for 8+ years. We both recently travelled abroad, separately. We were both told, separately, at Jomtien, by uniformed IOs, that if we are returning to the same address as previously notified on 90days, etc., no TM28 or TM30 is needed, for travel inside OR OUTSIDE Thailand, and our 90days is due 90days from last entry, not last report. All perfectly clear and explained in good English, no room for misunderstanding.
Baerboxer
I arrived back Monday afternoon after a short overseas holiday. Went through the Thai section with wifey daughter and Thai friend and her daughter. Officer at desk called us over as there was a queue and he wasn't busy. He processed all quickly and then escorted us through telling the officer at counter he'd already dealt with us. Very helpful and kind. Pathumthani immigration do require a TM30. I have lived at this address, our owned house, for 8 years. This is the first time they wanted one. We telephoned first and they confirmed they did. The also wanted: my original passport copy of my passport copy of wife's ID as property owner copy of land register book for wifey copy of new arrival / permitted to stay stamp copy of new TM6 Departure card copy of original permission to stay and re-entry permit. We had by chance photocopied all these, and they took them all happily. I was outside in the car with our disabled son and they asked my wife to fetch my passport. They inserted a new blue slip - notification receipt slip; the one they use when confirming your address before applying for new extension of stay. As always, different offices have different requirements and processes. Best to check what your own office wants.

Which is completely the opposite of Pathumthani who do require a TM30 and supporting photo copies plus original passport.

Parsve
It is now about 4 months ago, but then both immigration in Phichit and Chonburi (Jomtien) told me that if I had been aboard and come back I always had to report when I come back. I've always appreciated living in the Pattaya area. The efficiency and friendliness of the local immigration office has to be a big factor in choosing where to live. Sod living in Chiang Mai or Phuket.
stud858
The thing is different officers have told me different things over the last couple of years. You are right in going to check. I go and report even if I've dreamt I was away more then 24 hrs.
Jingthing
Well, I don't know the final answer but I was recently at Jomtien immigration and I randomly heard the front desk person say "no need if at the same address" to three people within a space of minutes. So it seems like lots of people are wasting their time trying to do the right thing because they understandably don't know what the right thing is. Typical here, eh? Does the written law suggest IO officers are not doing the right thing? I thought the law had no reprieve for retirees yet they are allowed to not bother reporting. Another reason politicians who pass laws are not needed. Let's just let whoever make whatever rules they want.

Like most people here, I just want to know whether to schlep down there or not!

That's assuming if the high reasoning moral type outnumber the incognito nut cases. The conclusion to all the descriptions from here surely is if you want to be safe of not being hassled, go every time you are away from your bed for 24hrs. Why? Because the verbal rule and it's enforcement and fines for this particular situation changes officer by officer, day by day, and place by place

Been out of the country about 3 times a year since then. Ditto my experience at neighbouring Maptaput. As far as Jomtien is concerned, I gather from @JackThompson's various reports on here that the TM30 requirement depends on whether you have to deal with the Retirement crew (whose requirements are easy-going, as confirmed by the OP) or the Marriage/Tourist mob (who appear to require a new TM30 to be submitted each and every time you venture more than 5 paces from your front door!). The Tourist Desk were OK to deal with, though - they just require you get the TM-30 first, then do their job. The Family Desk are something else - looking for any way to deny you in-person service.
joskeshake
Then it is changed again, last year August I went for re entry at Jomtien Immi and they told me also, when I come back to Thailand to do the TM30.So my wife did it day after my arrival, and thats what we now about it. riclag
It's apparent nothing is etched in stone in Thailand, especially when it comes to TI offices through out the country. My experience is to ask at your local TIO. Edited November 8, 2018 by riclag
