Thai man with degree from English uni arrested for fraud

Daily News reported that a Thai man with a bachelor's degree from an English university had conned a mobile phone shop out of 20,000 baht.

Thanayut Wiriyawong, 32, had fooled a mobile shop owner called Praewphan Phakphian, 38, on the Line application.

Buying a phone online he had sent the shop owner fraudulent communication suggesting he had transferred 20,000 baht into the owner's account.

He had in fact transferred nothing at all.

Thanayut said he had done this twice before selling the phones he received through the post to make money for personal use.

I doubt he ever saw an English university. Aren't those degrees for sale in Bangkok?

A doctor was practicing for 25 years before he was caught. He was smart he refer all the difficult complicated cases to real doctors and got commission. He of course prescribe pills for simple cases that came to no harm.

After so much experience over long years shouldn't he be given a doctor degree of some sort? Well he had so much practical experience even a houseman in his first year would not see so many patients as this fake doctor.

He was put in prison you know.

Plus, strange headline, lots of focus on bachelor degree from Uk rather than any even simple details of the fraud.

How is having a bachelor's degree from an english university or any other place relevant to the story?

It has no relevance or bearing.

Typical for what some might promote as news.....

Perhaps it is to suggest that he was of superior intellect and yet fell from grace? The moral of the story being that remaining uneducated and ignorant will protect one from the temptations of life.
