Why bother going to a Thai Embassy in one's country or another country, when it can be all done in the TIO that's nearest to you?

Wossa TIO..?..

Your uncle in Spanish.

But like others he is using a strange abbreviation for Thai Immigration Office. I prefer to do a few extra keystrokes to at least write immigration office.

For some people that is the only option since the cannot qualify for an extension of stay. Or some have been brainwashed into thinking it is to hard to do,

I was always under the impression that  one must leave the country to get a Non O marriage visa ie  Thai Embassy Sawanakett. Wow ! I'm here under a METV. I can apply and receive a Non O ,meet all the requirements for a extension of the Non O all in the  same Immigration office.

You only need a single entry non-o visa to apply for a one year extension of stay. That can even be applied for at a immigration office if you have the financial proof for a one year extension of stay and then you apply for the extension near the end of the 90 day entry from it they will stamp at the same time the visa stamp is done.

Some people may wrongly think that a multiple entry non-o visa allows them to stay in the country for a year until they find it only allows 90 day entries.

Whether you can get a Non-O stamp at your local office depends on the policies of that office.

If you are served by Chang Wattana in Bangkok, you can count on the official published rules being followed for the process.

Some have been reported their offices deny it is possible to do at all - even when presented with the official documentation and all required paperwork.

Others (like the one I used) make it impossible for most - unless you use an agent for 30K Baht - but a few have managed to meet the additional unpublished-rules they apply, and get it done sans-agent.

Good Luck.
