  • Probably one of the appx. 2000 species of Lasiocampid caterpillars (snout moth, lappet moth).  Lebeda cognata?

  • Looks like an ordinary tree branch, i don't see a reason to be scared of it.

  • I still don't see a critter,  What is contained in the highlight box repeats at equally spaced intervals in the original picture, so if that is the critter  I would say they are incredible disciplined

I can see a creature of some kind hanging under the branch. How big is it?

Probably a caterpillar of some kind, they often have irritating poison on the hairs.

Sharp eye!

Almost perfect camouflage!

Almost all such hairy creatures give a painful experience.

"Leg" with "hair"?

Very likely. Some stunning example images of caterpillar camouflage on the net.

Couldn't find an exact match.

And from now on I am afraid to grap a twig :shock1:

I just hope he's not as big as he seems on a 27"monitor ????

Still no idea what he is.

How about some dimensions - out of interest? No idea of size from photo.

About 4 inches long.

It ruffled up a bit when I bothered it.

I'm getting my eyes checked again for 3rd time this year.

I found this thing hanging in the tree today...it's some kind of silky cocoon but nothing lives in it....it's made of broken branches which lay under the tree...i wonder what animal made it...

At 4" long I wouldn't be "bothering" it again!

I still don't see a critter,  What is contained in the highlight box repeats at equally spaced intervals in the original picture, so if that is the critter  I would say they are incredible disciplined and spatially  oriented.

Personally I suspect it is a coordinated conspiracy  effort (so far very successful)  by TVF to have as staring at a branch all day.

For my good friend @sirineou I have flipped the image upside down and darkened everything but the critter.

555555 you got me to look at the branch again!!!

An alternative theory could be as described below

I have often told Canukamuck about the dangers associated with his tiny hat. Though very attractive and a fine fashion statement , I am afraid it restricts blood flow to the brain and provides inadequate protection from the Thai sun,

Finally I am afraid the combination of the above shortcomings of this otherwise very attractive item of headgear are finally taking their toll and he is seeing things.

I think it is best that we humor him as he can be very dangerous when irritated.

So, Oh Oh my ,my, now I see it , it looks dangerous better stay away from it.  Better inform the proper authorities. He he he he.

If it is a relative of this, might give you a hard time if you touch it.

Looks like a bagworm moth cocoon, also called case moths.  They come in different shapes and sizes.

I came across this at the pool the other day, never seen anything like it, I've been here a while too, without bothering to Google it, this might be what comes out of that nasty looking thing in the tree!
