Video Farang washing cars to make a living - says he's making 6,000 baht a day!

As usual it's the TVF people attacking some farang going about his business not harming anyone, i bet the locals care less than people on here, strange.

I doubt he was on the dole all his life, 70 year old out washing cars in the heat would lead me to think he is the opposite type of bloke.

Couldn't care less if he has a WP. maybe he opened a business with the wife and employs a few thais and got a WP to run on a marriage visa, wouldn't know if that's possible, his business though.

I'm not sure he was the one who is putting this about on social media but more likely some locals who see no harm in what he is doing.

I know some retired people here who are itching to work and who have skills and/or qualifications that would be of great benefit to thailand but find it difficult to find a way to work, some people after working all their lives find it hard to just switch off.

This reminds me of a bloke with one leg a couple of years ago who was doing great with a food stall and it went viral as some thais had put it on social media praising him and his food.

For that guy he said not long after it was the worst thing that happened as he was forced to close, i hope that doesn't happen with this guy if all he is doing is trying to keep himself fit and busy whilst contributing to his family finances.

Is it  against Aussie Pension rules to earn some income after retiring?

 

I wonder if you're just trying to wind people up or if you're really serious.    It sounds like you feel no one should ever receive and enjoy an earned Aussie pension.

The miserable Aussie Aged Pension is not exactly the same as handed out to former Politicians in that country.

Miserable to start with, then they Reduce it after you are out of the country for 13 Weeks and a further reduction kicks-in after 26 weeks.

There are also NO Benefits such as Medical/Pharmacutical paid, no assistance for child education....   the poor bloke probably paid Mega Taxes all his life in Oz. Give him a break !

How is he bludging the Aussie Taxpayer? If he is on pension, he earned it didn't he? Aussie law does not prohibit pensioners from working, does it?

When you leave Australia for more than 6 weeks your:

• Pension Supplement will drop to the basic rate, and
• Energy Supplement will stop

Just because you have paid taxes doesn't mean you are entitled to receive anything back as a pension. System would collapse if that was the case. It's one reason why you also have superannuation. The taxes I paid I will never get back because I am in a good place financially and would fail any means test. Fair enough, let the system help those who really need it.

My friend has a book on Thai working regulations also translated into English, and it clearly states that NO FARANG is allowed to do any job a Thai can do. He used this book to stick this regulation in the face of a Kajonkiet Suksa Bilingual school owner in Phuket who was making the Farang school teachers serve lunch to the students, and the very next day the practice was stopped! 

So this possible retired Farang washing cars is a total NO-NO, and even if he has a work permit, it's still a big NO-NO.

i invest in corporations, my dividends are fully franked and because I deregistered with the ATO for taxation purposes, I dont pay any capital gains tax either.
