Getting driver license

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. I am going to transport department tomorrow to make thai driver license for motorbike. But, I saw some videos on YouTube and posts, people say that driving and theory test could be assigned in weeks or even in month. So, I am wondering if it's easy to make license in Chon Buri. Is it possible there to make it in 1-2 days, how is it crowded there?

In my experience it is done on the day, usually in just a morning or an afternoon session. The problem is getting in as they only allow so many per time. Get there early, join the queue and hope for the best.

Also make sure you take originals and copies of all the usual documents, doctors cert, passport, driving licence, visa etc, plus absolutely anything else that you think could be relevant, the procedure seems to change every time I go there, and if you do not have all the necessary they simply turn you away.

Thanks for the answer, then, will try there.

"driving licence".

Are you sure that you got the point?

I understand that the OP wants to do a license from scratch not just converting from home license?

(theory test, driving test)

If I remember right there was a recent post about Chonburi (Pattaya) DLT where a poster asked for an appointment for test. Sometime in January? Very crowded.

I wouldn't be optimistic that you can just walk in.

At our upcountry DLT in 2015 it was 3 weeks for an appointment.

And the procedure was stretched over 2 days which does not seem unusual.

Wait for more response from locals about crowding.

Yeah, I want to do it from scratch. Anyway, I believe it will be faster than in Banglamung. The only way to reduce waiting time in Banglamung, as I heard, it's just come for theory/driving tests in couple days after first visit(even if it's not appointment day) because nobody checks the date there.

Yes it has changed since then. My gf took both car and mc tests earlier this year at Regents DLT and had to make appointments for both. If you failed either practical or the multiple choice "highway code" parts there seemed to be quite a lot of flexibility in just coming back and retaking within a certain period of time however.

you can go to driving schools that will pay to bring officials in to take tests on their premise, which will then provide you with a paper to prove that you've passed to go and issue a licence from the DLT. On schools that have this facility, they don't do these every day like the DLT so the waiting times could turn out to be in months still, but a better option that waining multiple months for an appointment at DLT
